5 Ways To Get Healthier Just In Time For Summer

Summer is upon us. While some of us are ready for the warmer weather, there are some of us not quite prepared to let go of our thermal leggings and oversized sweaters. I’m not saying you packed on winter weight, because you probably didn’t, but you definitely might’ve indulged a bit in the cold weather. That being said, summer is the perfect time to get back on track with your resolutions and goals. Whether you’re just now starting to practice a healthier lifestyle, or you’re coming back from a hiatus these are 5 ways to get healthier just in time for summer.

1. Hydrate

Everyone wants to get healthy, but hardly anyone wants to go all in right away. You have to ease into it. The best way to ease into the healthy lifestyle is to drink water. All the water. All the time. Make it a point to drink water first thing in the morning and last thing at night. Buy one of those water bottles that measures out how many glasses of water you need in a day so you can really keep track of it. But you have to stay committed. If you commit to nothing else, let it be this only. Hydration is key to a healthy lifestyle whether you’re trying to get in shape or just live longer.

2. Get Outside

This is a no-brainer with the warmer weather. Getting outside helps you get healthier. Take hikes with your friends, go swimming at the lake, or take a trip to the beach. Whatever gets you outside will inevitable get you moving. And if you’re moving, you’re on your way to getting healthier. The key to a well rounded healthy lifestyle is getting out there and just doing something. Taking that first step and getting outside will push you to keep going and before you know it, you’ll be one of those happy people who like the outdoors. Maybe.

3. Meal Prep

If you want to focus on diet to get healthier, meal prepping is a genius way to do that. Yes, it requires actual work. You have to prep the meals, which can take time out of your busy days, but if you set aside a few hours a week to get this done, your body will thank you later. You’re pre-portioning your meals so you don’t over or under eat for your lifestyle. And, this takes a huge weight off your shoulders as you no longer have to think about what you want to eat. You’ve already made it. In the same breath, you can get tired of the food you planned ahead of time or just may not want it that day, and that’s fine. Try to stick to it, but meal prepping isn’t law. You can bend the rules if you want to.

4. Take That Exercise Class You’ve Been Putting Off

You know the one I’m talking about. That one exercise class all your friends swear by or just one you’ve always wanted to try, but never got around to? Yeah, that one. It’s time to just book it. Don’t think twice about it. Pick a day when you have nothing else going on and go. You’ll be so glad you did. Whether it’s Orange Theory Fitness, Kickboxing, Barre, or Spin, you’re going to feel so much better after the class. And it’s building the foundation for when you do start getting back into working out.

5. Cut Out Toxicity

With summer approaching, now is the time to cut out all of the toxic things in your life. Soda, excess sugar, or even toxic people. A healthy body starts with a healthy mind. It’s time to start hanging out with that one friend that makes you feel bad about yourself, but has all the good party invites. Free from those toxic vibes, you’ll find yourself feeling so much better and having so much more energy.
