Fallowfield is one of the most infamous and notorious student areas in the UK. It’s the perfect place to live if you’re a fan of popper joggers and big jumpers but still want to go out and have a few bevs. Wilmslow Road has it all between two bus stops, so if you don’t live in Fallowfield just hop on the Magic Bus and have a magical night within half a mile. Here’s how to have a night out in Fallowfield.

Start at home

The beginning and end of a night in Fallowfield should be in a house. Doesn’t have to be your house, but a house non the less where you can have a few tinnies, listen to some tunes and generally get the night off to a fun and casual start. Fallowfield is nothing if not casual.

The Friendship

If the sun is out, so should be your student overdraft! Get yourself down into Friendship’s massive beer garden and have a couple of cheap pints in the sun. If you make it through Fallowfield without a night in Friendship then you haven’t been a local in Fallowfield.

Font is for cocktails

Font is my go to bar, with cocktails costing as little as £2.50 and great easy-going music and vibes it’s the perfect way to keep a night going. Font currently serves until 11, due to new licensing restrictions but hopefully soon they’ll be back to their normal 1am closing time. Each day of the week at Font is a different event, Mondays are for 2 for 1 drinks. Tuesdays are their quiz and so much more.

Might want to pop into Beer Studio

If you fancy yourself a bit of a connoisseur of alcohol, then maybe the Beer Studio is more your speed. This converted church has a wide range of beers and other booze that you can spend a night drinking to your hearts content. This bar does also have TVs and does show the bigger sports channels in a calm, smaller venue than most pubs.

256, if you’re a Fresher

256 is directly opposite Fallowfield student campus and is a super easy and fun night out. The venue hosts 90s nights and other themed nights as well as showing sports on big screens. 256 does have a club license so is open until 3am three days a week. They do also have some amazing drink offers such as £2.10 pints and cocktails for £3.00.

The Great Central, what kind of night would it be without a Spoons?

This is England and we need our Spoons. Any night out wouldn’t be complete without a sneaky trip to Spoons, with a closing time of 12 it’s a good place to go after Font and Friendship close. For cheap drinks and the morning after hangover cure, Spoons is always going to be on the list of where to be.

Cubo. It’s the only place left serving past 12

The last place to hit on the Fallowfield strip is of course Cubo. It’s open every day except Sunday and is currently hosting some of Antwerp’s previous nights. On the weekend it’s open as late as 3am and has some amazing DJs and drink deals to keep the party going.

Finish the night

It’s Manchester, so you’ve got to finish the night right and getting a kebab from Turkiss, some chips from Abduls, or some chicken and chips from Chesters has to be the last stop on the Fallowfield journey.
