12 Things That Every Student Will Want To Do After Social Distancing

No matter where we are, we are all practicing social distancing. If you are a student, you are experiencing what it’s like to finish your classes online for the college semester. While managing classes through a screen rather than on campus, it can feel entirely different, especially not running into your friends or getting ready to actually go to class. Even though we don’t know when social distancing will be over, a lot of students can’t wait to get back to their daily lives on campus. Here’s what college students are most looking forward to:

1. Traveling

If your spring break came after the COVID-19 outbreak, then you definitely did not go anywhere tropical with your friends. While staying safe is far more important than drinking margaritas by a pool, it is also sad when you are missing a trip you’ve looked forward to all school year. Planning a trip with your friends may seem impossible right now, but it can definitely bring you joy coming up with a place you may you want to go once social distancing and quarantine is over.

2. Going To A Bar

Let’s be honest, drinking at home is not fun (unless it’s a fun party at your house). I’m sure we are all missing the act of simply buying a drink at a bar, even if it is overpriced. If you are 21 in college and can go out for drinks, you probably can’t wait to catch up with your friends and enjoy a drink at your favorite bar.

3. Heading To The Beach

Since June is here, we know that summer is literally right around the corner. With that said, I’m sure we all could use a little sun right now. Laying on the beach, or even swimming in the ocean is always a good way to relax. Students especially probably want to get out with their friends to the beach after a semester of studying and switching to college at home.

4. Shopping For Room Decor

When I was living in a dorm in college, I remember getting so excited at the end of the summer to go shopping for my dorm room. Online shopping can be fun, sure – but there is nothing like a good Target trip. If you are not graduating this year and going back to school, shopping for room decor can be something to look forward to after social distancing.

5. Going To A Cafe

Grabbing coffee with a friend is a great way to catch up. If you are doing virtual coffee dates over FaceTime during quarantine, that is one way to stay in touch too. But, there is something about even doing schoolwork at your favorite cafe that can help us chill out. Being able to sit in a coffee shop is something I’m sure we are all looking forward to.

6. Celebrating Taco Tuesday

If you have been ordering delivery from Taco Bell or making your own tacos at home, just think about how good Taco Tuesday will be after social distancing. Going out with your friends for tacos any day of the week is fun, but ordering taco specials at your go-to restaurant is something we can all get excited about.

7. Attending A Concert

Going to college in a major city or near one usually means concerts year round. Even if you grab not so great, last minute seats for your favorite artist, attending a concert can be one of the best experiences and an event to look forward to anytime of the year! Inside or outdoor concerts can be fun when you’re listening to live music with good company or by yourself. While many big tours have been rescheduled for later this year or next year, attending a concert can be something to plan for once social distancing ends.

8. Getting A Haircut

Okay, I’m sure we can all agree that we are missing our hair stylists. If you haven’t tried to cut your bangs yet or trim your split ends, good for you. Whether your hair appointment was canceled right as quarantine began, or you planned on having one later this month, we are all in the same boat in missing the salon. Good news is, we have a lot of time to decide if we really want to try that new haircut we always thought about!

9. Dining With Your Friends

As we all are transitioning to cooking everyday (or ordering curbside pick up or delivery), I’m sure a lot of us are missing going out to dinner. It may not seem like the biggest deal, but grabbing dinner with a friend can be a great way to catch up and also try a new food!

10. Going To A Party

While we are social distancing and in quarantine at home with our families, friends, or alone, going to a party with a fun atmosphere and with our friends feels like something we could all use right now. As your social life may feel totally boring at the moment, soon enough when it is safe, we can all feel like we have a reason to celebrate.

11. Celebrating A Birthday

If your birthday happened during quarantine, or someone’s birthday that you care about, it  probably did not feel the same celebrating it inside your house. After social distancing, you can relive your birthday or someone else’s that happened these past months by going out for a birthday with your friends!

12. Getting Ready For A Night Out With Friends

When in college, there can be a lot of fun surrounding getting ready to go out before you even get to the party or club. Doing your makeup and changing your outfit ten times is all part of the preparation for a night out. Since we are all chillin in sweatpants right now, I’m sure we will all be super excited to go out, especially students.
