Social distancing may be what we are doing all summer, but that does not mean we can’t still enjoy it. We can follow the rules and still live life to the fullest! Summer being here means going to the beach, having drinks outside, pool parties, seeing your friends, and more – and we can still do that as long as it is safely and we are taking the right precautions. Here’s how to fully enjoy summer while social distancing!
Go To The Drive-In
If you have been in quarantine or social distancing and know someone else who has, or maybe it’s just a family member or your significant other – going to the drive-in to watch a movie is a great way to spend a hot, summer night while social distancing. What is perfect about the drive-in is that it’s outside, you’re in your car and so are other people so that way you don’t have to be in a super crowded area. Also, the drive-ins are so fun because what’s better than watching a movie, and eating snacks, chillin in a blanket in the back of your car? It’s a great way to social distance this summer.
Head To The Beach
So we know beaches are open, and they are probably one of the most crowded places during the summer. But, that does not mean we can’t go to the beach still. You can meet up with your friends there and sit six feet apart, or go with someone you were in quarantine with and sit six feet apart or more from anyone else at the beach. And, then when you are entering the beach or leaving, be sure to put your mask on.
Have A Drink Flight Night At Home
Bars may not be open for a while this summer depending on where you live, and honestly, a bar might not be your go-to place post quarantine for 2 months. You can make this summer fun with your friends or family you have seen, and have a flight night at home. This means, trying a few new beers, or ciders and pouring them into those cute mini glasses so you can have your own taste testing night at home instead of a brewery!
Go To A Campfire
Like the beach, having a fire or going to a friend’s house for a fire can be a way to relax and enjoy summer. Playing some music and toasting marshmallows with your friends is a great way to end a summer night. And, having a fire can be easy while social distancing – make sure you and your friends sit six feet or more apart.
The outdoors are probably one of the best ways to practice social distancing this summer. Finding a place to go hiking this summer can be a great way to get outside, enjoy the fresh air, sun and be six feet apart from people. If you haven’t gone hiking before really, this can be a good way to try something new at the mountains near you. Visit a trail, enjoy the scenery, and grab some food on an outdoor restaurant patio after!
Enjoy Dinner Outside
Since restaurants opened up for patio seating, having dinner outside is a perfect way to enjoy the summer while social distancing. You will be six feet apart from other tables, and will be able to get a refreshing drink and meal outdoors!
At Home Cocktail Party
Having cocktails in the summer can be so refreshing, and we don’t have to go out to restaurants to grab them this summer. Invite a few friends over, and make cocktails and sit outside and enjoy them together. You can still sit six feet apart. Seeing friends, and being outside is important always – and we can still do that this summer in a safe way! Make a charcuterie board, your favorite cocktail recipe, and put on some fun tunes to listen to and you’ll be sure to feel like its summer.
Take A Bike Ride
Catch the sunset this summer while riding your bike? Count me in. Taking a bike ride anytime the weather is good can be a good way to get some exercise and also meet up a friend to bike ride with. Riding your bike to the beach, or to your local seafood shack with a friend can have you practicing social distancing, while catching up with a friend and getting outside.
If you are a fan of fully enjoying the outdoors, then chances are you are excited to go camping this summer. Camping allows us to be able to social distance, while making some s’mores, sitting next to a fire, or taking a walk in the woods. It can be a great way to relax and embrace nature, and going camping does not involve being right next to people either – unless you’re in a tent with someone you’ve already been around during quarantine. You can practice social distancing while fully enjoying this summer activity!
Picnic In The Park
You don’t have to order lunch at a restaurant to feel like it’s summer. Packing a picnic and meeting up with your friends or family can be a fun summer activity. Bring a blanket, or tapestry to what ever park you love, make a cheese board, or some sandwiches (maybe both), put on a playlist and enjoy some sunshine! Have your friend meet up with you, and hangout on their own blanket or tapestry six feet apart. Even order takeout from your favorite local spot or food truck, and grab it to go. Parks may be busy this summer, but you don’t have to be surrounded by people when you find a spot not close to anyone. This is a good way you can social distance this summer, and still be able to enjoy seeing your friends and making the most of the next few months.
