Wondering How To Clean Your Beauty Blender? Here’s How To Do It

Wondering how to clean your beauty blender? You're not alone. There are many ways, but this method ensures a clean blender, and you can do it at the same time as all your other brushes. This is how to clean your beauty blender.

If you’ve been anywhere near Twitter recently, you might have seen the microwave beauty blender cleaning hack. What is that about? Why would makeup essentials be anywhere near the kitchen? So, you might be thinking ‘how should I actually be doing this?’ because there are a lot of hacks out there. But this method ensures a clean blender, and you can do it at the same time as all your other brushes. This is how to clean your beauty blender.

Invest in a baby wash

Baby washes and lotions are only filled with the good stuff, so there’s minimal danger of any nasty chemicals being left behind in your sponge. You can get them at pretty much any supermarket, and they cost a damn sight cheaper than professional brush cleansers.

Wet your blender

Run your blender under the tap with warm water so that it’s fully moist. You should be able to tell because the sponge should increase to its full size due to being packed out with water.

Pat in wash

Locate the darkest parts of your beauty blender (the bits you use most for foundation and concealer) and pat ( or rub) the wash in. This should not be done lightly, but also try not to be too rough. This should last for about 30 seconds.

Rinse

Go back under warm water and ring the blender out, squeezing and rubbing the sides. Water will initially run out a horrible beige colour but keep it there until it runs out as clear as you can get it.

More wash

If makeup remains, which it probably will, take more of the wash onto the stained areas, and then rub it into your palm. This gets the foundation out from the very centre of the blender. You should repeat this step until the wash stays clean.

Dry it

After rinsing one last time (just to get the last of the soap out), squeeze away any excess water with a clean towel. Leave it to dry after in a clean, ventilated area, or in a cute holder.

Do it again next week

Washing your beauty blender is absolutely key if you want to avoid breakouts, so you should try to do it at least once a week, especially if you use them every day with a lot of product.
