6 Of The Best Ways To Deal With Dry Chapped Lips

Unfortunately, dry chapped lips tend to get the best of us in the winter. Read on for some great tips on how to deal with them!

If the cold weather wasn’t already enough, it time and time again leaves us with a horrible beauty sin: chapped lips. It’s painful, annoying, and makes lipstick application an absolute chore. Luckily, there are a few ways to remove dry lips from your life, and not all of them involve trying every different lip balm in Boots. This list will save the day (and your dry chapped lips).

1. Water

Okay, so this is always listed as a cure for pretty much everything- but it really counts for dry chapped lips. If you can manage to drink 2 litres a day, you’re already a winner, and can expect smooth lips in no time at all. If you already drink this much, add another litre.

2. Cucumber

Cucumbers are basically just solid water anyway, but they come in real handy as a lip soother. Head to your fridge, grab a cucumber and get chopping. You can either hold the pieces to your mouth for 5-10 minutes or drip the cucumber juice onto your lips and wash it off after the same period of time.

3. Scarf

More a preventative measure but find yourself a scarf that’s chunky enough to cover your lips. Wind wreaks havoc on your lips, so blocking its path is a sure-fire way to keep your lips looking smooth. Plus, it can be very fashionable.

4. Lip Balm

Apply a non-petroleum jelly lip balm twice-a-day, and make sure to always apply after washing your face because face washes will take you to dry city. Stay away from coloured/flavoured balms too- the best ones are all natural.

5. Toothbrush

A handy way that takes no extra time at all, is the use your toothbrush to rub off any flaking skin and wipes away after with a warm wet towel. Make sure to apply lip balm after, and of course, you can buy a separate “for lips” brush.

6. Lip Scrub

These are available to buy everywhere in little pots, or you can make your own with coconut oil and brown sugar. The best time to do it is before your makeup. You can leave the scrub on whilst you create your complexion- and wipe it away just before you do your lips. Blood will have circulated and flakes will be gone, so lipstick won’t be a chore anymore.
