Some Netflix Documentaries We Guarantee You’ll Enjoy

Check out our list of Netflix documentaries if you're in need of inspiration and wanna watch something!

Recently, I have noticed that I might have developed the slightly unhealthy habit of binge-watching shows on Netflix. All the time. After me and my housemate went through all the cheesy, funny, confusing and bad films something clicked in my head and I thought… why not educate ourselves and have fun at the same time and try some Netflix documentaries? As much as I don’t want to sound like all of those people just assuming everyone else has a Netflix account, chances are a close friend of yours does have one and if they do – why don’t you just share it with two more people? Much cheaper.

But anyway, in this article I’ll give you a few Netflix documentary suggestions and hopefully, you will like them! So, let’s start:

1. Our Planet

Obviously, the first suggestion would be a film told by Sir David Attenborough. Why? Because it’s epic, that’s why. Not only you get the chance to look at our beautiful planet and its rich nature and all kinds of animals, but you also inform yourself about the very important issues, such as our planet dying! It’s available in 4K, so if your TV supports that, go ahead and watch it. It might change your point of view.

2. The Dirt

Although the film is about Motley Crue and you might ask yourself ”Why would I watch that if I’m not a Motley Crue fan?” trust me, the movie is fantastic! It’s funny as hell, gives a very good impression of what it was to be a rock star and shows the path of realising what matters the most to you.

3. Take Your Pills

This is one of those Netflix documentaries that tackle the crucial topics in countries, such as the US. The film explores how young Americans use drugs like Adderall and Ritalin, in order to enhance their performance at work or college. It’s an eye-opener to the topic and can educate you on the topic if you ever decide to try those medications yourself.

4. Three Identical Strangers

This documentary illustrates the story of Bobby Shafan who went to college in the early 1980s only to be greeted by people calling him by another person’s name. He then founds out he had a twin who he had been separated since birth from. After he finds him, they find they also have a third brother. The three brothers unveil the story of why they were separated in the first place and ends up being somewhat unsettling because it goes into a different direction than the one you expected.

5. Abducted in Plain Sight

If you’re in a need of watching something creepy then give this one a chance because it tells the story of an Idaho family, whose 12-year old daughter is abducted by their sociopathic neighbour. It definitely gives you the chills.

6. Fyre Festival

You might consider this one of the boring Netflix documentaries but I’d still recommend giving it a try. It can give you a good idea of how things get uncontrollable quickly and the size of the mess that was created.

7. Gaga: Five Foot Two

The film shows us the tiny woman behind the meat dress. Prepare to meet Lady Gaga and see her as just a normal girl, who worked incredibly hard to get where she is now and her battle with severe illnesses.

It’s always nice to switch to an educational documentary, rather than sticking to the same old genre of cheesy films. However, whichever one you prefer, we won’t judge you! Give our Netflix documentaries suggestions a try and let us know below which ones you liked!
