Sam Smith And Normani Are Looking To Dance With A Stranger In Their Brand New Sultry Collab

Sam Smith and breakout artist of 2018 Normani have teamed up for a perfect pop banger. Check out the review of their brand new single Dancing With A Stranger here!

With seven number one singles and four Grammy Awards under his belt, Sam Smith has already achieved so much in his less-than-a-decade career.

However one more thing he can tick off his list? Release a banger of a track with former Fifth Harmony member and breakout artist of 2018, Normani.

It was when Fifth Harmony gatecrashed Sam Smiths carpool karaoke back in November 2017 that you could see the look of shock and awe on Sams face as the girls huddled in the back of the car. Prolonging his love for the girl group, who would have predicted a collab between one of the members and Sam himself?

The track starts with swift snaps, accompanied with Sam’s rich and honeyed vocals professing his need to “not be alone tonight.” Funky guitar flicks are heard in the bridge as Sam sings “Look what you made me do, I’m with somebody new.”

Normani joins in on the second verse adding nothing but an extra dollop of pop perfection. The 80s influenced track features Normanis vocals in the bridge both rich and raspy; giving me full on Janet vibes and I’m digging it.

Normani has come along way from her Fifth Harmony days.

Still yet to release a debut album (she promises its coming this year) she has managed to remain relevant in this ever-changing musical landscape. From the release of a joint EP with record breaking DJ and Producer Calvin Harris to even getting herself a top ten hit with fellow breakout artist Khalid with their sultry banger of a track, Love Lies.

Both Sam and Normani join forces in the chorus, showcasing some serious beautiful harmonies alongside the sensual mid-tempo synths which work perfectly well with the message of the song.

Throughout the track the two artists search for a stranger; a cure for their sadness. The gloomy and sensual ambiance of the track immediately draws you straight into its aura, perfectly capturing the frustration and loneliness of heartbreak that we all universally have felt at some point in our lives.

Sam is renowned for his brutally honest take on unrequited love and the angst of being an adolescent when in love.

His debut album, In The Lonely Hour, which was released back in 2014, perfectly showcased the heartbreak and emotional toll that being and falling in love does to you. Being so open and honest on his debut effort worked in well in Sams favour; In The Lonely Hour sold over 2 million in the U.K., receiving an 8x Platinum certification. The album also garnered Sam 4 Grammy Awards.

The two have been teasing the track on social media for a while now in which twitter blew up with many fans expressing their excitement for the collaboration. The track was produced by Norwegian pop producers Stargate, renowned for working with artists such as Rihanna, Sia and even S Club 7. From Rihanna’s Diamonds to Ne-Yo’s So Sick, the powerhouse producers have managed to write 49 top ten hits in the U.K and 14 number one singles.

Dancing With A Stranger marks the second release in a month from Sam Smith.

He recently released Fire On Fire, a track made exclusively for the Netflix miniseries Watership Down. His last album was his sophomore effort The Thrill Of It All which dropped back in late 2017. Normani however is on the cusp of a worldwide breakout, with last single Love Lies featuring Khalid, peaking at number nine in the US and accumulating nearly half a billion streams on Spotify. Together they’re dancing their way through the new year in perfect harmony, with a coat of shimmery yet sad pop perfection and we dig it.
