Are you looking to switch things up in your room and revamp it a bit? A few room decor pieces can instantly elevate the look and atmosphere of your bedroom!
1. Color Changing Light Bulb/Mood Lighting
Lighting has such a huge impact on the atmosphere and overall vibe that a room gives off to those who inhabit it. Whether you like warm, golden yellow lighting or prefer to choose a color based upon your mood, the lighting you choose can seriously elevate your bedroom or throw off the theme completely. If you like colored lighting you can go for a bright and fun neon sign which you can customize online from websites like Amazon or Etsy. If you do not want to commit to one color or design, a much simpler option is to purchase a color-changing light bulb. So many brands are now selling these and most of them have the ability to connect right to your phone through an app where you can easily choose whichever color you wish to have at any given moment! For example, if you are super girly and are going for an early 2000s Paris Hilton type of theme for your bedroom, you can choose a bright pink color. If you are like me and are a bit on the indecisive side, you can easily switch the color whenever you get bored of one! Colored lighting is super trendy right now and will definitely give your bedroom an elevated feel and look.
2. Chic Rug
Moving on from the lighting, the floor of your room is not an area that should be overlooked. Adding a rug, especially if you have hardwood floors in your bedroom, can really warm up the space and make it feel cozier. The size, texture, and pattern of the rug you choose of course will depend on your chosen bedroom theme. For instance, if you are going for an eclectic bohemian vibe, then I would suggest picking up a neutral-colored rug of either woven or shag texture. My favorite places to shop for rugs are Target, Home Goods, TJMAXX, and Bed Bath and Beyond. These stores usually have a wide range of options to choose from as well as a good amount of affordable rugs to choose from. This particular item of room decor can be placed on the back burner in favor of art pieces or throw pillows, but having a chic rug is such an easy way to elevate your space and bring the vision for the entire room to fruition.
3. Awesome Accent Chair
If you have an awkward, empty corner in your room or just need a nice spot to sit and read your favorite books, bringing in a unique accent chair is just the thing to fill it! The structure and fabric of the chair should work to bring the theme of your room together just like the lighting and rug. Some of my favorites are a nice colored velvet armchair and a bohemian chic rattan chair. Not only does the right chair make the room look complete, but it also serves as extra seating for your friends when they come to hang out and another place for you to chill if you get sick of lounging on your bed. Urban Outfitters has some really nice options for accent chairs, however, they can be a little bit on the expensive side and shipping tends to take a while. If you are working with a tighter budget, I would recommend looking online at stores such as Target and Ikea since they generally have several affordable options. While an accent chair can be a bit of an investment, having a good quality chair in your room immediately makes the space look more mature and functional.
4. Large Leaning Mirror
Next on this list is a room decor item that has become incredibly trendy across various aesthetics, from bohemian to sleek minimalism. Large mirrors work to make a room appear larger and more open while being super functional and practical all at the same time. Having a full-length mirror in your bedroom makes the getting ready process so much easier as you can see your entire outfit prior to leaving your apartment or house and you can even sit in front of it on the floor to do your everyday makeup. These have also begun to pop up in modern and minimalistic living rooms as well. For example, Alisha Marie, a popular lifestyle Youtuber, recently mounted two large full-length mirrors to her living room walls to create symmetry and modern elegance. These room decor pieces are definitely an investment but are sure to last you for so many years in any room that you choose to display them within.
5. Plants, Plants, And More Plants
Last but certainly not least, are plants. Plants are such an underrated form of room decor that is super affordable, at least when purchasing a variety of small plants as large plants get start to get a bit pricey depending on the species of plant, and make any room look fresher and aesthetically pleasing. There are so many different species of plants to choose from and almost as many ways in which to display them in your bedroom. You can opt for some adorable ceramic pots to display things such as little succulents and cacti, or if you are specifically going for an eclectic vibe choose a macrame hanging pot to house plant types like the painted lady and arrowhead vines. These types of plants begin to grow outwards and down when they get enough sunlight and water, creating such a cool cascading effect that looks stunning in any bedroom. Larger plants are a great option to fill in empty corners if you do not want to splurge on an accent chair and if you really want to bring nature indoors. Home Depot and Walmart are awesome places to check first for affordable plants as well as ceramic pots and hanging pots to display these beauties in!
