How To Be Single On Valentine’s Day

With Valentine’s Day steadily approaching, lots of singles around the world are surely becoming anxious as they realize they may be spending this year alone. However, we say you don’t need to be in a relationship to have fun and feel good about yourself this Valentine’s Day.

We’ve compiled a few tips on how to be single this Valentine’s Day- and still have the best day ever.

Plan a cute night out with other single friends.

Why would only couples get to spend this night out having fun? Valentine’s Day is a great excuse to grab some other single friends and plan a cute night out grabbing a romantic platonic dinner, some fun drinks a cool new bar or even dancing the night away with some girlfriends. Celebrate the beauty of platonic love and enjoy the people you do have in your life.

Or take yourself out.

If all your friends have plans this Valentine’s Day, treat yourself to a fun night out. Maybe this is something you’ve never done before. Then hey, here’s to new experiences.

This will show you that you don’t need to depend on anyone else to go out and have a good time. Because you’ve got yourself for that.

I promise, this will be such a freeing experience, you’ll never feel like you need someone to do anything with you again. Remember, no one’s even paying enough attention to realize you’re all alone. And odd’s are, any place will have a table for 1 available.

Not to be cynical but Valentines Day is a total consumer-based and created holiday.

Plan a GNI (girl’s night in!).

Don’t feel like going through the trouble of going out this Valentine’s Day? Grab some of your closest friends who aren’t celebrating either, uBer eats some yummy takeout and spend the night in just chilling.

What’s better than just staying in, laughing and binging Netflix with your besties? Odds are, you’ll soon forget you were once alone on Valentine’s Day.

Remind yourself of why it’s nice being single on Valentine’s Day.

The grass is always greener on the other side, and we as humans tend to romanticize whatever we don’t have. Meaning, even though we think every couple are the lucky ones to have a date on Valentine’s Day, sometimes this may not be the case. Think of all the pressure they have to go through finding the perfect gift, perfect date location and plan, etc…

Lots of couples end up fighting because of the pressure that Valentine’s Day puts on them for everything to be perfect. You may be dodging a stressful bullet.

Think about it. You have one less present to buy and reason to spend money on this night, and one less stressful night to plan. This means way more time to focus on yourself and what you really want to do. Find joy in being able to be selfish without hurting anyone and being able to do whatever you want. No compromise. Trust us, once you find a partner, you’ll have a lifetime of sacrifices to make. Enjoy being a single entity.

Give yourself a reality check.

Like I said, truly enjoy being single. It’s the way we come into this world and it’s the way we go out. Why not find joy and beauty in it?

If it makes you feel better, remind yourself that Valentine’s Day is mostly a consumer-based holiday that lots of couples don’t end up even enjoying. You could sit there feeling mopey about not having a significant other to spend it with, or, you could seize the day and your singleness.

Take a moment this Valentine’s Day to reflect on yourself and your own value as an individual. Who you are now, as yourself, before you find the lucky individual who will maybe get to call you their’s one day.

Cheers and happy Valentine’s Day to you, babe. <3
