Here’s How To Slim Down Quickly In Time For Summer

The good news is, summer is just around the corner. The bad news is, summer is just around the corner. And if you are anything like me, you may have indulged a little too much in the Easter chocolates and had a few too many lazy Sundays. Now you are trying to shed those extra few pounds in record time so you can feel confident in your bikini when the warm weather hits. Do not worry, I am in that boat too, and honestly, I am in that same boat every spring because I never learn. What I have figured out from my inability to start my summer body in winter, is how to slim down quickly without killing your metabolism or sending you to the gym for 3 hours every night.

1. Don’t drink your calories.

This is going to hurt; go sober… Yes, you need to stop drinking, but not just alcohol, everything besides water. It will be hard at first, but you would be blown away by the number of calories you consume through your liquids. I lost 4 pounds when I stopped drinking alcohol, and I only averaged 3 glasses of wine a week, so if you drink more than that, image the results a sober month will have. This is for you coffee drinkers too if you can’t cut it out completely, go for black coffee. This trick does not harm your body in any way but is practically guaranteed to help with weight loss.

2. Switch up your workouts.

I want to be clear, I am not saying you need to kill it every day in the gym for 2 hours so you can lose weight. I am saying that whatever your workout is now, change it up… a lot. Try running on Monday, then stairs on Tuesday, then heavyweights on Wednesday, then HITT on Thursday, followed by a bike ride on Friday… you get my drift right? The more you can switch up your workout, the faster your body will respond. You want your body to not know what kind of workout it’s going to get from one day to the next, so it can’t become accustomed to it and therefore expend less energy, i.e. burn fewer calories. So, keep your workouts diverse.

3. Food.

Here’s the one you really didn’t want me to say… you need to change your diet. Clean it up and make sure it is within your calorie intake allotment. I don’t count calories, and I don’t diet, but I do clean up my food intake whenever I am looking to slim down. For me this means I eat mostly veggies and fruit (I am vegan so no meat for me), and I stop my late night eating habits. You would be surprised how many calories you can stop yourself from consuming by not eating past 8 PM. When it comes to how to slim down quickly, there are healthy options that won’t destroy your body.

I won’t tell you that my way is the only way, that simply isn’t true, but you need to figure out what foods are good for your body that you actually enjoy. If you hate salads, don’t stock your fridge with salads thinking you’ll eat less, you know you will just order pizza. Find something you love, for me its sweet potatoes and broccoli, and try to eat that meal instead of pasta or pizzas.
