12 Definite Signs You Are from Youngstown Ohio

There’s a lot of things that only a true Pennsyltucky would know from growing up in this Keystone state. Here are 12 things you'll only understand if, like me, you grew up in Pennsylvania!

I grew up in a small town, Youngstown Ohio, about 15 minutes from downtown. Although, whenever I tell people that I’m actually from Poland, they wonder why I don’t have an accent. Therefore, I’ve just stuck with telling anyone that asked that I am from Youngstown Ohio. In case you still have no clue what in the world Youngstown is, here are some signs that someone you know might be from good ole Y-town.

1. You firmly believe that a wedding is not a wedding if it doesn’t have a cookie table.

2. Your weekend nights include runs to Taco Bell, Sheetz, Walmart or Steak N Shake because you really don’t know what else to do.

3. The first place you think to go on a nice day is Lanterman’s Mill.

4. The Federal isn’t just a level of government.

5. You’re still friends with all your high school friends.

6. You don’t stop at red lights at night when you’re downtown.

7. You didn’t have a snow day in school unless there was at least a foot of snow.

8. The only seasons that exist are Summer, Winter and construction.

9. You laugh when people ask if you know what Handel’s is.

10. The last week of Summer is kept free of plans because every day will be spent eating at the Canfield Fair.

11. You get nervous to drive on smooth roads because you’re used to potholes every 5 feet.

12. As much as you say that you can’t wait to move, no matter where you are, you’ll always find yourself proudly repeating “Y-town is my town”.
