10 Chic Tips On How To Host Friendsgiving

Thanksgiving may be, hands down, the best holiday to ever exist; what with it’s endless buffet of family recipes spread out on the table and a bottle of champagne for yourself, but there’s a new tradition taking over!  A holiday that allows you to continue to postpone your diet and to spend time with those who are just as important to you as your family; Friendsgiving. Hosting an event isn’t always easy, so I’m here to put it all together for you. Here are 10 ways to make your home or apartment stylish for Friendsgiving this year. These tips on how to host Friendsgiving are epic.

1. Make cute invitations

Create a sweet invitation to mail out of give directly to your guests so they’ll feel personally welcomed into your home. A simple design will do the trick! If you want to take it one step further, hand make the invites with water colors or cute ink prints to pull together your theme and to get excited from the very beginning.

2. Give your friends a chance to reflect

It’s a time to show your friends how thankful you are for them! Make cute place-mats that give a reason you’re thankful for each guest or have a fill in the blank option for them to take part in the activity while you all wait for food to be ready.

3. Create a list to keep on track

Being a perfectionist of parties and all things “list’s” myself, this is one of my top things to do for your Friendsgiving. Make sure you create a list of everything you need before the big day so you don’t panic if something unexpected comes up. To keep this part from feeling like a chore, draw small related images around your paper as you go down the list to keep you motivated.

4. Keep a fall theme

A beautiful table arrangement is a must if you want to “wow” your guests upon arrival. It’s not Christmas season just yet so play up the fall theme before the season draws to a close. Warm color schemes and foliage are the perfect way to incorporate fall décor into your party.

5. Have plenty of food and wine.. lots of wine.

You never want your guests to leave feeling unsatisfied! Make sure you plan ahead to prepare the optimal amount of food and drinks so the night doesn’t end prematurely. And if you know your girlfriends well enough, you’ll buy enough wine for a good time.

6. Create a signature home cocktail

This may be the aspiring wedding planner in me, but who doesn’t love a good signature cocktail? It’s your house/apartment so why not showcase a good drink? Name it something that represents your home, your friends or your favorite fall activity! For example, my roommate and I chose to name our Prosecco inspired cocktail “2407” to represent our first apartment together. The options are endless on Pinterest for mix drinks so get creative and make it something everyone will enjoy.

7. Bake small versions of Thanksgiving desserts for a bar picking atmosphere

There is nothing cuter than a mini… anything! Mini apple pies, mini donuts, mini caramel apple slices; the list is endless. It’s less formal and guests can enjoy picking on smaller versions of their favorite treats while they mingle. Put them all together on a cute bar cart, add some streamers and enjoy the best part of dinner; the dessert.

8. Have everyone bring something

Everyone loves a good Pot Luck! Take some of the pressure off of yourself by asking your guests to make and bring their favorite Thanksgiving dish. To take it one step further, request that they bring along the recipe to add to a colorful banner for a recipe swap. This is one of those tips on how to host Friendsgiving that will make your life a thousand times easier.

9. Have a trendy , simple photo booth

Have a good white wall, or one you can clear of wall hangings for the event? Hang a rose gold “Friendsgiving” banner or an arrangement of gold letter balloons that spell out “Gobble” and go crazy with paper cut-out props!

10. Have FUN and relax

Lastly, sit back when it’s all done and enjoy the fabulous party you’ve just put together. Be sure to realize what really brought you all together this day and appreciate every one there. After all, that’s what the holiday is really all about. One of the most crucial tips on how to host Friendsgiving; that’s the whole point.
