Thinking of joining a sorority? As I’m sure you’re well aware, going Greek isn’t as easy as the movies make it seem. It’s a major time (and financial) commitment, but if you’re really serious about rushing, it is so worth it. Because sorority rush week comes with a whole different breed of wardrobe requirements, we’ve rounded up dresses under $50 for the variety of event you’ll be attending.
House tours, orientation and Philanthropy Day all await you, so be ready to spend some long days getting to know your potential future sisters. For day events, wear something you’re comfortable in, but still look chic. Skater and shift dresses are great, in airy silhouettes and colors/prints that aren’t too aggressive. If your personal style is a little more towards the trendy or edgy side of things, don’t be afraid to let that side of you show. Your future sisters want to know who they are really getting, and it is important to fit in with the other potential new members, while still letting your personality shine.
Girly girls and prepsters among us, you know the drill. To keep it classy during sorority rush, you can’t go wrong in pastel colors, swing-shaped dresses, wedges and pearls.
As previously mentioned, if your style isn’t all pastel all the time, that’s okay too. Keep your sorority rush week dresses classic in silhouette, but play with colors, patterns and slight changes in style to let your personality show.
Sometimes all you need is the perfect simple dress to complete your look. Style it with your favorite hoops and sandals and you’ll look put together all while appearing effortlessly fashion forward.
The dressiest night of recruitment, Preference Night, is your last chance to dress to impress your potential future sisters, and let them know how serious you are about joining their sorority.
The dress code is semi-formal, but think more along the lines of a fancy wedding, not a high school dance. In contrast to other sorority rush week dresses, preference night lets you be a little bolder. Body con and low cuts are both a major offense, same with over-the-top sparkles. Keep it simple, chic and classy with tasteful jewelry and comfortable heels.
Sticking with solid prints gives you a chance to dress up your look with accessories. Whether you prefer a pair of chandelier earrings or a classy clutch, you’ll look chic and tasteful without going overboard.
Patterned prints are a good way to stand out from the rest! Find one that suits your personality. If you’re more playful go for some cute polka dots or funky patterns. If you like to keep it chic and girly, try a gorgeous floral print and ruffles!
