10 Ways To Reuse Everyday Items Productively

To fix a deteriorating environment takes motivation and teamwork from millions. Every little action can make a difference and reusing everyday items productively can be just one way to help out and do your part. Here’s 10 ways to reuse everyday items productively:

1. Plastic bags:

When you’re grocery shopping or shopping in general try to bring your own bags with you, however if you forget don’t be upset; Plastic bags can still be useful. If you have a small size trashcan a plastic bag is perfect as a trash bag.

2. Plastic silverware:

Everyone loves takeout, but sometimes it can feel guilty to throw away extra plastic boxes, silverware, and plates. Boxes and plates are difficult to reuse, however, plastic silverware can easily be washed and used again. They don’t have the durability of metal utensils but if you do use plastic silverware try to use it more than once to help reduce waste.

3. Bottles:

Hopefully, by now, you should be using water bottles; however, if you do find yourself with plastic bottles please don’t use them only once. Plastic or glass bottles can be easily cleaned and reused again multiple times for whatever drink you desire.

4. Old Clothes:

In stages of growth, it can be extremely annoying to buy new clothes knowing that they’ll be quickly outgrown once again. Instead of getting rid of your old clothes know that some can be salvaged. Old shirts can be used in a memory quilt and pairs of pants that are too short can be cut into shorts. Any other clothes that you have outgrown should always be donated or sold for repurpose for others.

5. Shoe Boxes:

New shoes are always exciting, just don’t throw away your shoe box. Shoe boxes are perfect storage for anything from your old baseball cards to some marbles and everything in between. Shoe boxes can easily be decorated and are a great customizable place to keep your meaningful belongings.

6. Jars:

Jars come in all shapes and sizes and are a great way to store foods. Their sleek shape makes for a great look around the house and their repurposed uses are plentiful. Do not throw away used jars; instead, simply wash them and use them again to store sauces, foods, or even drinks.

7. Yogurt Packaging:

For yogurt packaging and practically any sort of cup-shaped plastic, you can wash it out and use it as a plant pot. Save some money and save the earth by saving extra packaging for plants.

8. Paper Towels:

Paper towels themselves are almost impossible to reuse, however, I strongly encourage you to ditch paper towels and napkins altogether. Cloth towels and napkins are exponentially more environmentally friendly and are very easy to throw in with a load of laundry for easy cleaning.

9. Wrapping Paper:

Ripping open presents is exciting, but wrapping paper can be reused if presents are opened in a more careful manner. It may not be as fun however makes for an easy way to reuse and save some time cleaning up a mess.

10. Paper:

Paper is often thrown around carelessly, but many trees are killed in its making. Avoiding the use of paper is impossible, however reusing it is something you should consider. Instead of throwing out old papers nonchalantly, papers can be reused for artwork, or generally any other use; People tend to forget that paper has two sides and more than one can be used.
