10 Ways To Be Good To Yourself This Year

2017 seems to be a year that calls for self-love and personal achievement. It’s hard to change the way you do things now whether it be your habits, hobbies, rituals, or lifestyle – it is doable. 2017 is a year that’ll push you towards self-improvement and away from self-destruction, but only if you let it. Keep reading for the best ways to be good to yourself.

1. Reward Yourself

This is my first tip as well as one of my favorites because it’s so important and vital to personal success. If you succeed at something, you deserve a reward. Obviously I’m not saying book a cruise and forget about your responsibilities, but you should do something that’ll make you happy. Do something that’ll help you remember that everything you do is for our own personal benefit. And to reminder yourself you’ve done a good job. Rewarding yourself for accomplishments will only push you to do more.

2. Say “no”

Learning to say “no” is so important. If you don’t want to do something, don’t. If you don’t want to waste your time, don’t. I’d like to assume you don’t want to waste your time, so don’t ever feel obligated to do something “just because” it’s a friend or family member asking. Saying “no”, even though it may be hard, is for your own benefit at the end of the day. Other peoples priorities should never come before your own!

 

3. Forgive Yourself

We all make mistakes. And a lot of them at that. If you don’t forgive yourself for that occasional slip-up it’ll only discourage you from trying to do anything else. What you have to know is that everybody makes mistakes, whether they’re on a large or small  scale – it happens. But forgive yourself or you won’t be able to move on.

4. Laugh It Off

I think most of us have learned from experience that any element of humor makes life a lot easier. It’s extremely important to learn to laugh at yourself every once in awhile. Laughing at yourself means that you forgive yourself. These two tips go hand in hand. Yes, there’s a time and place to be serious but if you don’t learn the difference then you can never enjoy life and its most amusing moments.

5. Adventure

Do you really find yourself trying something new that often? Didn’t think so. Traveling and experiencing is an essential part of life. Our world is too beautiful to stay in the same place all our lives. We owe it to ourselves to explore. Adventuring will take your mind off anything and everything complicated. Even taking the day to explore the city / town you currently live in can make the biggest difference.

6. Feed Yourself

Give yourself enough energy to get through the day because we all know you’re doing big things. Fill your body with the best of the best. Eating nutritiously can make a world of difference so don’t neglect your body and it’s primitive needs. Plus, who doesn’t love food?

 

7. Honor Your Dreams

Never forget about the things you really have a passion for. Remember to go out of your way every time you get the chance to. If you love to draw, make sure you do that. And if you like to sing, do that too! Don’t forget your talents and gifts. This is one of the most important tips. It’ll help you remember your worth and why you’re so special.

8. Comfort Zones?

I hope you don’t spend most of your time in comfort zones. If you stay there, all you’re doing is keeping your chances of risk at a minimum. I know being comfortable is important for some people but sometimes experiencing new cultures and other lifestyles can help you grow. Challenging yourself will only make you better and taking risks only makes you stronger.

9. Watch Your Relationships

Always make sure your relationships are up to your owns standards. Don’t let anybody treat you less than you deserve to be treated! Even if it’s your own mother or your best friend, you have to speak up when you feel like something’s wrong. Relationships are a huge part of our lives, these are the people we turn to when we need advice or someone to confide in. There are so many benefits of a good friendship that should never go unnoticed. They play such a great role in our biggest accomplishments and learning to have healthy relationships is all apart of self-love.

10. Patience

Patience is the last tip on my list on purpose. This is a quality that will completely define you. Having patience, especially in this day and age, is super important. When we live in such a fast paced world you have to maintain serenity and balance. You have to learn to wait for yourself, your results, and the outcomes of your decisions.

Overall, there are a multitude of ways to be good to yourself. What you need to figure out is what works best for you. If you don’t appreciate yourself and recognize your accomplishments you might get discouraged. You only have your body and your mind to take care of, remember that. Self-love is definitely the wave of 2017. Start today.
