10 Tips And Tricks To Get Rid Of Eye Bags

We all have suffered from the dreaded eye bags. Whether you stayed up all night cramming for finals or you stayed out too late at that party, these 10 tips and tricks to get rid of eye bags will do just the trick! The best part about these tips? They are affordable and natural remedies, so it’s a win-win.

1.  Drink lots of water

This may seem counterproductive given that eye bags can be caused by water retention, but hydrating is one of the best ways to reduce puffiness around the eyes. Drink a couple glasses of water throughout the day to maximize the effect.

2. Chilled tea bags

In a hurry? Try combating the dark circles with tea bags in the morning. Moisten two tea bags in cold water and put them in the fridge for a bit.  Then, place them over your eyes for 25-30 minutes. Take the time to relax. After you’re done, wash your eyes and face with cold water, and dry your skin. You’ll feel relaxed and rejuvenated!

3. Grab a raw potato

This is one of the stranger options on the list, but it works. You can either slice the potato and place it over your eyes for 10-15 minutes, or you can grate the potato to extract the juice, then use some cotton balls to soak up the juice and dab them over your bags. If you try the juice option, you can also store the juice in the fridge and re-apply daily!

4. Cucumber

This is the most popular method and with good reason. Cucumbers have skin-lightening properties and have a soothing effect on skin. Take 2 slices of fresh cucumber and place it on your eyes for 25 minutes. Relax and even take a short nap. The cucumber will help refresh your mind as well as your eyes, and it will naturally help reduce puffy eyes.

5. Almond oil or Vitamin E oil

If you prefer to spend a little more money on relieving your bags, either of these solutions will work well. Lightly massage the oil under your eyes nightly before you go to bed and rinse off in the morning!

6. Egg whites

This option is a bit more timely, but eggs are usually easily accessible in the fridge.  Stiffly beat a few egg whites and apply it around your eyes with a brush. Remember to keep your eyes closed during this!  Leave it on for 20 minutes and then rinse your face in cold water. The area around your eyes will be tighter and less puffy.

7. Cold compress

If these options are either too timely or too expensive, you can always use spoons and cold water to reduce bags. Take two metal teaspoons and hold them under cold running water for a few minutes. Then lie down and place the bowls of the spoons over your eyelids for 30-60 seconds. You can keep switching the sides of the spoons. This trick can also increase awareness.

8. Milk

If you’re looking for an easier daily option, or you’ve spend one night too many without decent sleep, milk is an alternative. Place cotton pads in refrigerated milk and place on your eyelids for 20-30 minutes. This will cool off your eyes and help with water retention.

Rose water is perfect for skin care. Not only does it rejuvenate skin, it acts as a skin toner and soothes tired eyes. Simply, soak cotton pads rose water for a few minutes. Then put soaked pads on your closed eyelids and leave them on for about 15 minutes. To maximize results, try it twice a day for a few weeks.
