10 Easy Ways To Piss Off A Londoner

When visiting London, it's important to not piss off a Londoner. These people know the city much better then you, and they also know the typical habits of a tourist. If you don't want to be one of those people, then this is the best way to not piss off a Londoner!

It’s usually quite easy to tell when someone isn’t from London, their mannerism is usually quite different and they tend to be more upbeat and cheerful. In other words less likely to look like someone is out to get them and more likely to engage in friendly conversation during your morning rush hour or evening. However there are still somethings that a lot of people from outside of London do, that piss off a Londoner and here are 10 of them.

1. Not having your Oyster/ticket ready at the barriers

Rush hour is the most horrendous times to be on the London underground or overground and it is even more horrendous when your at the barriers ready to tap your oyster card and the person in front of you doesn’t have their card ready, causing a heap of traffic behind them.

2. Slow walking

London is a fast paced city, walking as if you have nowhere to go or no place to be is a big no no. There is always something going on and walking slow in front of a lot of us will have you scrutinised and moaned about.

3. Playing music out loud rather than in your earphones

An easy way to piss off a Londoner on their commute is to be playing your music on loud speaker rather than in your earphones. Most people just want a smooth stress free commute whilst on public transport and not everyone shares your taste. So be considerate.

5. Talking very loudly on the phone

Yet again with the noise, your phone is right next to you. There is no need for you to be shouting down it on public transport or on the road. You are not just letting everyone aware of your business you are causing irritation to the people around you.

6. Queue jumping

Queue jumping is one of the seven deadly sins in London, you are asking for a lot more than just pissed off people. You are warming up for an argument.

7. Putting your feet on seats

People have to sit on the seats provided by public transport, putting your feet up on the seats is inconvenient and the soles of your shoes are dirty.

8. Giving your bag a seat

Giving your bag a seat on TFL is an easy way to piss off someone who travels around London. Your bag does not need a seat, there is your lap and the floor. Instead of having people stand when they could be seated.

9. Not removing backpacks on packed transport

Keeping your hefty sized rucksack on during transport around London is an easy way to piss off anyone, especially during rush hour. You are a mobile obstruction. More often than none you are knocking people and not even realising it. Take it off!

10. Bad manners

A ‘thank you’ goes along way in a city where people move fast and don’t really spend time to appreciate or acknowledge strangers. If someone holds a door open for you or moves over for you to take a seat, say thank you. It is polite and it will save you pissing off your fellow Londoner.

11. Littering

Littering, now a lot of us are guilty of littering. I don’t condone littering in any shape or form. Leaving your litter behind on public transport is irritating for anyone. You could take your litter with you and put it in a bin.
