15 Cute Room Décor Ideas for Every Style

If you're looking for some cute room decor ideas for a bedroom, then these decorating ideas to spice up your walls, floors, and furniture will help!

It’s hard to get your room to look nice when you’re in your early twenties – especially when you’re still at university (and especially if you’re renting somewhere strick about marks on the wall/any kind of redecoration). Most student rooms will comprise of blu-tacked photos on the walls, some fairy lights, a ‘boho’ wall hanging, and maybe some piles of books in a corner (depending on whether or not the room in question belongs to an English lit student). I’ve compiled a list, here, of some cute room décor ideas that you can easily do in your student house, regardless of your budget – a lot of them are small, too, which is handy for anyone who moves around a lot:

1. Dangling Lamp and Cord

Minimalist alternative to a bedside lamp – just make sure you’re allowed to hang it up!

You know the one I mean. The ‘I just came back from South-East Asia/India/South America and am super cultured’ one. A lot of people have theirs as canopies above their bed, but I keep mine on my sofa.

Another student room décor staple – hang them on your wall/around your bedframe/anywhere, really, and bask in their warm, hazy glow as you listen to your flatmate explain why you absolutely cannot have the heating on.

Hit up the nearest Ikea, buy a few of their décor pillows and loads of pillowcases and you’re sorted (in theory – we all know how those Ikea trips go in practice).

7. Plants

Get some greenery going and buy some cheap potted plants to put around your room. They look great gathered on a windowsill! If you’re scared about killing them, get a cactus or dried flowers – or, better yet, fake plants.
