10 Artists Releasing New Music In 2019

mm
With a brand new year comes brand new music! Check out which artists are releasing new music this year in this article now!

Let’s be honest. There’s nothing more exciting knowing your fave singer is going to drop a brand new album in the upcoming year. Perhaps they’ve been on hiatus for a couple of years, trying to craft their artistry and musicanship, or perhaps their last album was released last year and they just fancied dropping another album, because, why the hell not? So with that in mind here are 10 artists (potentially) dropping a brand new album in 2019!

1.) Rihanna

Nobody does “dodging album questions” better than our badgirlriri. Ever since her highly successful beauty and fashion ventures, the Kiss It Better songstress has been promising fans that music will come “soon” without ever giving any indication to a date (grrr!) It’s been three years since her last release, the platinum-selling Anti, however to all Rihanna fans out there, don’t worry! She’s swapping her makeup brushes for a microphone and has promised fans that 2019 would be the year of a new album.

2.) Lana Del Rey

Is there anything more Lana Del Rey than the title of her brand new fifth studio album, “Norman Fucking Rockwell.”? After releasing two singles produced by Jack Antoff, “Mariners Apartment Complex” and the 10 minute “Venice Bitch.” If any of the single titles are an indication the vibe of the album, then expect to light your cigarettes and sit in a state of melancholy and sadness. (We can’t wait.)

 3.) Christina Aguilera

Fresh from the release of her sixth studio album, Liberation, the legend that is Christina Aguilera has been dropping hints for a while now about the release of a potential (second) Spanish album! Before there was Luis Fonsi’s Despacito and Little Mix’s Reggaetón Lento on the radio, there was Christina Aguilera’s Spanish album that she dropped back in 2000. Her Spanish roots I’m sure will work well in her favour, as what’s better than Christina Aguilera singing in the language of love?

4.) The Weeknd

It was in last March when Toronto’s neo-R&B crooner, The Weeknd, dropped an EP entitled My Dear Melancholy; a six-track EP that oozed both sadness and moodiness. The EP resembled Abel’s early work, way before he crossed over to the mainstream side of the street with albums “Beauty Behind The Madness” and “Starboy.” However, Abel recently announced that his fourth studio album, entitled Chapter 6 will be arriving soon. Whether or not it’ll be another pop crossover record or if he’ll back going back to his gritty roots is still to be confirmed. Either way, we can’t wait!

5.) Demi Lovato

Tbh Demi Lovato has had quite a tough year. Aside from accumulating over 1 BILLION (!) streams on Spotify, garnering her second Grammy nom and landing her first ever number one single with Clean Bandit, the latter half of 2018 saw Demi back in rehab after an apparent overdose. However, rumours of a new album from the Sorry Not Sorry singer have been circulating for a while now. One thing is for certain though, with Demi’s talent and her explicitly honest songwriting, we’re sure it will be incredible.

6.) Carly Rae Jepsen

Ever since Carly burst onto the scene back in 2010? (Seriously?!) if you weren’t either gay or on twitter, you’d have most likely seriously underappreciated the petite pop princess. Her critically acclaimed album “Emotion” was her last release in 2014 with Jepsen teasing tracks over the past four years. However fear not, Jepsen recently dropped a brand new single called “Party For One” and if that’s the taster for the album, then we can’t wait for the main course!

7.) Solange

Do you remember that time late last year when everybody thought Solange was dropping a new album? Yeah, same. Unfortunately, she didn’t… but that doesn’t come as a shock. The R&B trailblazer is renowned for heavily editing and crafting her work until she’s 100% happy with the finished product. Although nothing is set in stone regarding a follow up to her critically acclaimed (and album of the year in my opinion) second album A Seat At The Table, back in 2016, we can all pray and hope that 2019 is the year of Solange.

8.) Avril Lavigne

Pop-rock noughties princess Avril Lavigne’s last release was back in 2013. Her self titled fifth studio album was a twelve track anthemic pop-rock effort. Lead single “Here’s To Never Growing Up” reached the top 20 in the US and was certified Platinum. Since the release of her last album, Avril has been M.I.A for the past six years. It wasn’t until recently when she came forward and opened up about her struggle with Lyme disease that she announced she was releasing a new album in February 2019. Entitled Head Above Water we can expect old school Avril Lavigne; honest and emotionally raw lyrics, accompanied with big guitar flicks and anthemic chorus’ and we cant wait!

9.) Marina (Formerly ‘And The Diamonds’)

It seems British songstress Marina has dropped her diamonds in anticipation for a brand new album, announcing on twitter she is leaving her iconic moniker ‘the diamonds’ in the past, in favour of her first name Marina. After finishing the era of her last album, Froot, back in 2016, Marina somewhat slipped into a life of anonymity for a while. However not to worry as she’s promised a brand new single at the start of 2019 which an album to follow in the summertime.

10.) FKA Twigs

FKA Twigs has been one of the most interesting and iconic artists of the last decade. Everything from her melancholic and trippy music to her hypnotic stage presence, fans have been in strong anticipation for a new album with Twigs’ last release, LP1 dropping back in 2014. Although not completely going off the radar, Twigs has done a few fashion campaigns and starred in the viral Apple Music advert but new music from the Cheltenham born artist is a must for 2019!
