5 Types Of Shoes You Need In Your Wardrobe

I know it may be every girl’s dream to have an endless Carrie Bradshaw-esque wardrobe. Sadly, not only it is a bit unrealistic in terms of budget, it is also a bit wasteful and totally unnecessary. If you cover all bases and are smart with what you pick, you can be prepared for every occasion with just 5 types of shoes in your wardrobe: and here they are.

1. Heels

Get yourselves a good, COMFORTABLE (I cannot stress this enough) pair of heels that will go with every outfit. I usually find black or nude is the best way to go here. If you’re struggling to find a comfortable pair, aim to find some with a bit of a platform under the sole of your foot and a thicker heel. If your foot is pretty much straight on the ground it is going to be so much more painful. Also avoid going super, super high! This is one of the types of shoes I personally couldn’t live without

2. Trainers

An obvious one, you need something to work out in. Whether you’re a bit of a gym buddy, are an avid runner or if you just enjoy a hike with your friends. A good quality work out shoe is really important, you don’t want it to start falling apart and you need a shoe to support your foot well during physical activity to avoid injury: one of the most important types of shoes to get right!

3. Casual trainers

My day to day shoes are Converse or Vans, pretty much without fail. A  comfortable and casual trainer is the best option for brunching, popping to the shops, going bowling, pretty much any daytime occasion you could think of, the casual trainer is appropriate. Again, sticking with a neutral colour like black or white is the easiest thing to match with outfits. Leather Converse are great because canvas wears-out quite quickly, however, you can chuck canvas shoes in the washing machine and they come out like new! If these sorts of trainers aren’t your thing, take a look at Nike air max or G force for a more sturdy style.

4. Waterproof boots

Sadly, life happens. You don’t want to be wearing your crisp white vans to the shop in a monsoon. Get a pair of sturdy waterproof boots like Timberlands or Dr. Martens. They’ll keep your feet dry in the rain, warm in the winter and they’re a LOOK! Style with a chunky pair of socks and tights, a cost dress and an oversized jumper for a super cute autumn/winter style. Timberlands are also super practical if you’re an avid hiker. The variety of styles and colours also means there’s something for everyone.

5. Sandals

On the flip side of boots, we have the summer shoe!! In the hot weather, there’s nothing better than setting those toes free and getting your sandals out. A cute tan pair will always match an outfit and look great with your bronzed summer skin. If you get the right pair, sandals can be worn with a bikini on the beach or at a summer wedding, they’re truly one of the most versatile shoes. Get yourself a pair of Birkenstocks if you’re a bit of a walker in summer, or grab a cute platform pair of sipping a mojito in the sunshine is more your style.

Whilst having a few options is necessary, you don’t need a wardrobe bursting with shoes to have something for every occasion. Keep your options to a minimum to save on space or money and still be able to dress your feet whatever the weather. Let me know if these 5 work for you or if you have a pair of shoes you couldn’t live without!
