Top 10 Times We Couldn’t Calm Down About Taylor Swift

I was 10 years old when Taylor Swift released her first album, Teardrops on my guitar, and I instantly fell in love with the young country singer. Over the past 13 years, we have seen her go from a country mouse to a pop princess. With her new album, Lover, set to release in August, I thought I would count down the top ten times we couldn’t calm down about Taylor Swift.

1. Her snake to butterfly transformation

Over the past few years, Taylor Swift has been rocking the snakeskin look. It’s on her sweaters, dress and adorable rompers. This was mainly due to the Reputation tour and her clapping back at all the haters that commented snakes on her Instagram. However, over the past few months, she has been seen wearing more pastel coloured outfits, sometimes with crazy sleeves. The reason for this change can be explained in the ‘ME!’ music video. She is shedding her snakeskin and turning into a butterfly.

2. Every time she acts like a dork for her fans.

Taylor Swift is a tall, extremely talented, and beautiful pop-star. She is basically the definition of cool. Except she’s not, anytime you see her in an interview, doing a live show or just updating her social media you get to see the real her. A goofy blonde who loves to joke around. Maybe this is a side only her true fans get to see, but we all love it.

3. When she formed her squad

Taylor Swift’s love life has always been examined by media. People love to know who she is dating and how long it will last. However, I think the relationship that should be talked about more is amazing friendships with other badass women. Getting to see young women supporting each other and not worrying about boys is something to be excited about.

4. When she took back the narrative

When Taylor Swift first joined the music scene in 2006 she was labelled the good girl. She was seen in the media as a country mouse who couldn’t do any wrong. Then her reputation was blown and the world labelled her a snake. Instead of getting sad and wallowing in her defeat she changed the narrative. If people were going to call her a snake, she would call herself a snake. The power move of the century. Not to mention we got the song ‘look what you made me do’ out of this whole situation, so I’m not mad.

5. Taylor + Taylor

When Taylor Swift started dating Twilight star Taylor Lautner in 2009, my world felt complete. Yes, she has a lot of famous ex’s but they were just so cute it together that it was hard to hate this couple. It was also very hard to deal with their break-up. Good thing we had ‘Back to December’ to comfort us through the hard times. Now Taylor Swift has moved on to date Tom Hiddleston, Harry Styles and Calvin Harris, meanwhile Taylor Lautner has moved on to…well let’s just say there may be a clear winner in this breakup.

6. The ‘Look what you made me do’ music video

Move over Easter Bunny, Taylor Swift is looking to freaky Friday with you, because she drops more Easter Eggs in her videos then you do the whole month of April. Taylor Swift has been known to drop winks, nods or upcoming hints to her upcoming projects in her music video. This trend really took off with the music video for ‘look what you made me do’. Fans were analyzing which dresses she wore, how many snakes were in the video and what it all meant for months after it came out. To this day Taylor claims that not all the Easter eggs were found, so I guess we’ll all just keep searching and wondering. It was amazing getting to see Taylor Swift on a mountain of Taylor Swifts, though.

7. When she uses her acting skills

In 2010 Taylor Swift tested out her acting chops in the holiday rom-com, Valentines Day. Although the film only scored 18% on Rotten Tomatoes, it was still pretty great getting to watch everyone’s favourite pop-star act. We all can’t wait to see her become a cat in the upcoming CGI film CATS.

8. Her excited face

The pop super star is known for a lot of things, but mostly it’s her excited face. You can find this face at award shows, on her Instagram feed, or even in her videos. It’s a small thing but it’s nice to know you can still get excited about winning an award you’ve won a hundred times.

9. Keeping her private life private

I love reading celebrity gossip just like everyone else. But I’m also aware that it shouldn’t matter. Taylor Swift’s love life has always been in the public eye and up for debate, until now. She is rumoured to be dating Joe Alwyn. But you never see photos of them together or hear anything about their relationship. Looks like Taylor Swift is successfully keeping her private life private so that people can focus on the music. Go, Taylor!

10. When she made up with Katy Perry

Times are tough for women right now, and the last thing we need is more hate. Which is why it was a breath of fresh air to see Taylor Swift and Katy Perry, two women who were rummoed to hate eachother, hug it out on the small screen. Extra points because they were dressed as a happy meal.

Taylor Swift knows how to be everyone’s best friend, mom, style inspiration, and we just can’t get enough of her.
