7 Natural Ways To Whiten Your Teeth

Nothing is more embarrassing than a yellow smile… We all know how time consuming and messy that whitening strips can be. There has got to be an easier way to naturally whiten your teeth. You know us, we did some digging and found a few ways to naturally whiten your teeth. Also, just a friendly reminder that, while these are healthy and safe remedies, they might not produce the same results for each person.

1. Oil Pulling

This remedy has been around for quite some time. In order to use this remedy, get a tablespoon of melted coconut oil and swish it around in your mouth (much like mouth wash) for 15 minutes; repeat daily. Oil pulling helps remove the plaque and bacteria from your teeth, so either way, you can’t lose.

2. Baking Soda

Baking soda can be used for just about anything and with its ability to fight treat stains, then maybe it can clean up your smile. When using baking soda to whiten your teeth, you can do one of two things – you can buy a toothpaste that has baking soda in its ingredients or you can make a paste out of baking soda. To make the paste, you will need to mix 1 teaspoon of baking soda with 2 teaspoons of water. Then, brush your teeth using the paste; do this remedy twice a week (at most). If you are prone to sensitive teeth, then homemade pastes might irritate your teeth.

3. Hydrogen Peroxide

You should be familiar with hydrogen peroxide, as it is an excellent way to kill germs. With hydrogen peroxide, you can do one of three things – you can either buy toothpaste with baking soda and peroxide in its ingredients, swish some peroxide in your mouth before brushing your teeth, or create a paste. To create the paste, mix two teaspoons of hydrogen peroxide with one teaspoon of baking soda; do this once a week.

4. Oral-B Toothbrush

You know we had to slip this one is here, but if you haven’t used an Oral-B toothbrush, then you’re missing its magic. I know this isn’t technically a “natural remedy”, but sometimes it’s all about the toothbrush. The Oral-B toothbrush does all the work for you and if you pair it with any whitening toothpaste, then you’re bound to see results.

5. Charcoal

Over the last few years, charcoal toothpaste has become extremely popular. You can buy any charcoal toothpaste online (because they’re everywhere), but you could always make it a home. To make the paste at home, just purchase the activated charcoal powder and mix it with some water; use with a toothbrush.

6. Turmeric

Who knew that you could whiten your teeth with some turmeric? Not me! You can go about using this remedy in one or two ways – you could purchase a toothpaste that already has turmeric in its ingredients or you can make a paste at home. To make the paste, mix 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric with 1/8 teaspoon of melted coconut oil, then brush; do this a few times a week.

7. Tom’s Toothpaste

This is the only toothpaste that I use to whiten my teeth, because it actually does what it says it’ll do. Honestly, I didn’t even know about this toothpaste until four years ago, and I have my dad to thank for introducing me to this gem. Honestly, out of all the whitening remedies on the list, you need to try this one the most!

Have you tried any of these remedies? If so, which ones gave you the best results? Let us know in the comments below.
