5 Movies To Help Get You Into A Fall State Of Mind

When it’s a chilly day outside, you’re certainly not going to be in the mood to watch any movies that take place in tropical destinations or feature people soaking up the sun at the beach. Instead, you’re going to want something that sets the tone for the next few months and makes fall seem more tolerable. Here are 5 movies to help get you into a fall state of mind!

1. The Lake House

In my opinion “The Lake House” is one of the most underrated Sandra Bullock. Also, underrated for Keanu Reeves as well. It blends together time travel and romance in a way that is classic and bittersweet, rather than commercially dramatized. Anyhow, the movie is perfect for fall as the backdrop of the relationship that takes place between the two main characters Kate (Bullock) and Alex (Reeves) unfolds during the autumn months. One of the most memorable scenes is when Kate warns Alex who is in the past about a freak blizzard in October. So get cozy under a warm blanket, warm up that tea and stream this movie on Netflix stat!

2.Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban

Any Harry Potter movie is ideal for fall as the topic of wizardry screams Halloween, but TPoA has to be the most autumn of them all. There are beautiful shots around Hogwarts in this film featuring plenty of foliage, pumpkins, and the woods. Also, let’s not forget the fact that there is a scene of a wolf (Sirius Black) fighting a werewolf (Remus Lupin). It cannot get any more fall than that if it tried. So make the time (as we all know Harry Potter movies are quite long) and sit down and watch this film again. Or if you haven’t seen it before, make sure to stream the others first just so you know what is going on first. Trust me it can be confusing even if you have seen all the other movies.

3. Heathers

Heathers is one of the most iconic movies of the 80s and gave birth to some of Hollywood’s biggest icons including Wynonna Ryder, Christian Slater, and Shannen Doherty. The flick is suspenseful dramedy that makes that explores the ideas of high school popularity and the murderous lengths some will go to get the revenge they feel is necessary. The film has dark vibes and the setting of what occurs in the film happens in the fall, so you will definitely be in the Autumn state of mind after this movie. If that’s not convincing enough the film features Christian Slater at age twenty…you’re welcome.

4. Beautiful Creatures

Another film that features magic, but instead of wizards, we are thrown into the world of witches in “Beautiful Creatures”. Lena, the main character of the movie realizes in her new town that her family is from complicated and supernatural origins, leading to major conflict seen throughout the whole movie. Not only does the witch theme give this film a Halloween vibe for sure, but also the fact that much of the film takes place during the fall, as this is when we see Lena entering her junior year at a new school.  The film is action-filled and also the romance between Lena and her love interest Ethan is quite cute. Therefore I would recommend this movie for your next fall girls night after a football game.

5. A Cinderella Story

This was definitely a favorite of mine and whenever it was playing on tv, I would typically always stop what I was doing to watch it as it is just such a feel-good movie. The flick is perfect for fall is it showcases the relationship between football star Austin Ames and genius writer Sam Montgomery during the first few months of school. It’s football season, there’s a Halloween Dance, early college acceptances…plenty of material that makes the going back to school months seem all the more tolerable.
