Winter is New York City’s favorite season. All of the hustle and bustle turns into a maze of colorful, pretty lights, holiday windows, and a variety of ice skating rinks and outdoor markets that make the city seem enchanted. 1. All of the classics at Rockefeller Center.
Ice skate beneath the pretty lights, shop the holiday sales at the plaza and take selfies in front of the giant famous Christmas tree.
2. Feel the magic at Central Park.
With two different ice skating rinks and generous photo ops with carolers available, what else could you ask for?
3. Try every single holiday season Starbucks drink there is.
The “red cups” are back and better than ever, so you know it’s time.
4. Have some luxury food truck Belgian waffles at Union Square.
You’ll find Wafels & Dinges amidst all of the holiday market boutiques. Plus, it’s a quick walk from SoHo, where you can do the rest of your holiday shopping.
5. Visit Bryant Park’s Winter Village.
Otherwise known as one of the best seasonal ice rinks in all of New York City. While you’re there, you’re bound to check out the holiday market as well.
6. Look for the cup of the best hot chocolate in NYC.
Go from City Bakery to Mariebelle and more, and see for yourself which cup takes the win.
7. Dress up and watch The Nutcracker at the Lincoln Center.
One of the New York City Ballet’s best, most famous performances. A must-see.
8. Stroll up 5th
Don’t just pass by all of the store windows—look inside them! Start at Macy’s in Herald Square and make your way up to Lord & Taylor, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Bergdorf Goodman. Every year, the holiday window displays are original and absolutely gorgeous.
9. Take yourself and some friends on a Home Alone tour.
If you’re in New York City, you might as well visit The Plaza hotel and have a slice of mille feuille from Lady M.
10. Take a cab to Chelsea.
Chelsea Market is best known for all of its indoor lights. Totally Instagram-worthy.
11. See the Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall.
This is a seasonal must-do at least once in your lifetime.
