Fun Online Games to Play at Your Next Zoom Party
It’s probably gotten really lonely during quarantine and you just want to see your friends. The best you can do for now is having group Zoom calls just to see and speak to them. Although it’s not as fun as being with them in person it still means you get to see them. Sometimes talking can be boring and maybe you’ve seen all the movies on your watch list. You guys are bored and want to find something fun to do. A great alternative to just always watching movies on Zoom is playing some free online games! There are so many games that have been online for ages and also other games that are brand new that are available just to play with your friends at a distance.

Although this is typically used as a teaching tool in schools Kahoot! online is totally customizable. Try and have everyone add in their own questions or have a designated person make questions about people in the Zoom call! This is a great way to get in good laughs and see how well you all know each other. Try quizzing each other on things you’ve done during calls or during the quarantine. You can also make different kinds of trivia nights with a game like Kahoot! You can have certain questions about topics you all know like your favorite TV shows or movies. You’ll have a fun time learning more about your friends also you get to quiz them about how much they know about you!

Scribbl.io is just an online version of Pictionary without teams. You get topics and have to draw them and have everyone guess what the drawing is. This is a great way to alleviate boredom among friends and will get your creativity stimulated. You can even add your own words so you can make the game totally personal! This is a great online game service because you can have a really big group of people in the game. It is one of the online games that are free to use so it’s perfect for a big group of people.
Cards Against Humanity Online
This is just an online version of the popular card game Cards Against Humanity. It’s a game where you get cards with blanks or questions written on them and then everyone gets a small set of cards with answers to the cards with questions. One person is the “Card Czar” which is the person who reads the questions card and then everyone gives them answers. The Card Czar then chooses the answer they like best or the answer they found funniest and that person wins a point. First to a certain amount of points wins. You can play with the preset versions of the game or you can fill in your own questions and answers. This game can get really funny if you make it personal because inside jokes are always the funniest way to go for games like this. You could even add questions and answers that are related to the group’s favorite TV show or movie! You’ll all have a good laugh while you read off the hilarious prompts and answers. It’s totally free to use online and I love playing when I have a lot of friends on the Zoom call.
Among Us
Among Us is a brand new game that is becoming really popular to play. It’s totally free as a phone app or you could pay five dollars to get it on Steam for your computer. You can have up to 10 people in a room and it is basically an online version of the game Mafia. The basis of the game is that you are astronauts trying to finish your tasks while at the same time trying to find out who the imposter is within you. The imposter or imposters are aliens disguised as astronauts trying to kill all of you before you can finish your tasks. There can be up to 3 imposters in a game and you cannot trust anyone! Be careful though because imposters can sabotage the tasks and sometimes make it difficult to finish any of your work. It’s so fun to play on a call because you’ll just listen to so many people accusing others but it’s all in good fun. Just make sure you don’t say a word if you end up getting killed and if you’re the imposter then I hope you’re a good liar.
JackBox
If you are able to splurge a bit I recommend you and your friend’s chip and one of you buys the game back from JackBox. It’s about $30 but it has a bunch of games that are perfect to play with friends. You only need one person to own it and they can make a lobby from the many games to choose from. This will be so fun for your next Zoom call party because you will be able to have conversations and arguments or vote one content you find funny. They keep developing new games so you’ll have so many options to choose from!
Super Mario Smash Brothers Ultimate
If you and your friends are able to splurge I highly recommend getting Super Mario Smash Brothers Ultimate on the Nintendo Switch. It’s a remaster of the classic Super Mario Smash Brothers game where you and your friends compete in a fighting style game with your favorite Nintendo characters. It’s really fun to play with a big group of friends because you’ll get to use different characters and find different techniques that work for you. Super Smash Brothers is the perfect game to play at your next Zoom party because it is group friendly and easy to play!
