Comedians You Should Check Out Now

Like many people, I find Saturday Night Live something to really look forward to. Especially during quarantine, SNL at home was the best entertainment. Or, even just watching old Saturday Night Live sketches on Youtube – they truly never get old. There are so many great comedians on SNL, that if you haven’t watched the past few seasons – you should. Here’s the comedians you should check out now!

Chris Redd

If you look up any sketches on SNL on Youtube, you’re guaranteed to laugh. You may have seen him in the comedy movie “Popstar” alongside a past SNL cast member, Andy Samberg. But, if you haven’t, then you need to check him out as soon as Saturday Night Live is back (or watch the past few seasons on Hulu). Chris joined Saturday Night Live in 2017, and he is one of my favorite cast members, and every time he is in a sketch – he is always hilarious (i.e “On The Couch”, “Slow”). You can find these sketches as well as more quality content with Chris Redd, such as stand up with Comedy Central on Youtube. Also, you should follow him on Instagram, @chrisreddis for some funny tweets by him that he shares on his page.

Chloe Fineman

Basically, the queen of impressions. Chloe Fineman started on Saturday Night Live in 2019, and has been doing hysterical impressions of people on the show ever since. If you watched Tiger King, you know who Carol Baskin is. But, you may not know Chloe Fineman as Carol Baskin. Her impression of Carol is spot on, and will definitely make you laugh. She does impressions of celebrities such as Britney Spears, Timothée Chalamet, Phoebe-Waller Bridge, that you can find in the Masterclass sketches on SNL. Follow her on Instagram, @chloeiscrazy for more impressions of celebrities such as Florence Pugh and Drew Barrymore. They are seriously so close to being just as accurate.

Bowen Yang

He has contributed as a writer for SNL, as well as a cast member of the show. Bowen Yang is another of the funniest cast members I’ve watched on Saturday Night Live in years. You can catch Bowen appearing often on weekend update with Michael Che and Colin Jost, while in other sketches such as some of my favorites, “Soul Cycle” and “Celebrity Sighting.” Outside of Saturday Night Live, you can find Bowen on Instagram @fayedunaway and listen to his podcast with Matt Rogers, “Las Culturistas.”

Ego Nwodim

Let’s just say, these past few years with comedians who have joined Saturday Night Live has been great. You may have seen Ego Nwodim recently do her makeup during quarantine with Crayola markers. Or, maybe you saw her give us great tips on how to make soup during quarantine, you know, boiled water and salt. She is so creative when it comes to making people laugh, and these were just two examples of it. Ego joined Saturday Night Live as one of their cast members, and we are so happy she did. You can find Ego in a ton of sketches on SNL (such as “Sleepover” and “Daytime Show”), as well as appearances on Weekend Update with Michael Che and Colin Jost. Follow @eggyboom on Instagram for some hilarious IGTV content.

Melissa Villaseñor

She can sing, draw and she can make you laugh. Melissa Villaseñor is another of the great cast members on Saturday Night Live. Maybe you watched her stand up, or even attended a show of hers. She is one of the funniest comedians, and also does fantastic impressions, and voices of other celebrities such as Billie Eillish, Kristen Wiig, Gwen Stefani, and Jennifer Lopez. Check her out in her sketches on Saturday Night Live, such as “Hoops.” Or, follow Melissa on Instagram @melissavcomedy, for a ton of content – including her going Instagram live with other cast members, like Chloe Fineman, where they have been Jennifer Lopez and Drew Barrymore. Through her Instagram, you can find links to her art Instagram page, as well as her music which is on iTunes and Spotify.

Heidi Gardner

Maybe you’ve caught an episode of Saturday Night Live where Heidi Gardner appeared as “Boxer’s Girlfriend” or maybe you’ve seen her as “Bailey” on Weekend Update when she’s reviewing movies. Either way, she’s so, so funny and should be one of the comedians you check out now. She has been featured in a ton of sketches such as one of my favorites with Harry Styles, “Childbirth Class.” Follow @heidilgardner on Instagram for some SNL content and Heidi’s love for sports.

Kyle Mooney

He has been on Saturday Night Live longer than other comedians listed here, but if you haven’t been watching the show, you should. Because, all of these comedians are hysterical, and Kyle Mooney is one fo the best too. If you’ve seen his most recent sketches such as “Del Taco shoot”, “Beer Money” or as “Baby Yoda” on Weekend Update, you know just how funny Kyle Mooney is. Or, maybe you watched him on SNL years ago when he appeared in sketches with celebrities such as Kanye West and Larry David. You can also find a bit of stand up comedy from Kyle on Youtube, and be sure to check out his Instagram @kylemooney for some more quality content.

Kate Mckinnon

There’s no denying how hilarious Kate McKinnon is. Yes, she’s been at Saturday Night Live for what seems like forever (thankfully), but she also has been in movies such as “The Spy Who Dumped Me” alongside Mila Kunis, “Rough Night” and “Bombshell.” Maybe you’ve seen her as Ellen Degeneres or Justin Bieber on Saturday Night Live or just in a ton of sketches – either way, she is one of the best comedians ever. So, if you haven’t watched any of Kate Mckinnon’s comedy content, you should check it out.
