10 American-Themed Foods To Make For A Festive Memorial Day

American-themed foods are a staple for any Memorial Day celebration. While you can make just about any dish red, white, and blue with a dash of food coloring, these 10 recipes use mostly naturally colored and ingredients and tons of yummy fruits!

1. Red, White, and Blueberry Salad

Salads are fresh and perfect for summer events, so try out this twist on a traditional salad. All you need is fresh blueberries and strawberries and yogurt for dressing. This salad incorporates the Memorial Day colors without any unnatural dyes or food coloring so it’s super easy to make.

2. Fruit and Jello Cups

Jello is easily one of my favorite foods because it is so easy to make while being a great snack for a hot summer day. These jello cups are perfect American-Themed foods and also mostly natural coloring. All you need is blueberry and strawberry jello, cool whip, and fresh fruit for topping. Make sure to make a ton of these because they will be a hit!

3. Raspberry, Blueberry and Marshmallow Skewers

Nothing could be easier than these American-themed fruit skewers! You’ll need blueberries, raspberries and mini marshmallows to create this twist on the classic kabob. Just thread the fruit and marshmallows any way you like and lay on a serving tray for your guests to enjoy.

4. Patriotic Popcorn

This popcorn is great for both a party munchie and a pre-fireworks snack. Once you’ve popped the popcorn, lay it out on parchment paper and drizzle melted red and blue candy chips on top. If you’re feeling extra festive, add some star-shaped sprinkles to the top of it before the candy drizzle hardens.

5. Red, White, and Blue Sangria

It wouldn’t be a true Memorial Day celebration without a boozy American-themed drink. This sangria is made with any dry white wine, brandy, and a splash of lemon-lime soda to great carbonation. Add fresh blueberries and sliced strawberries for a red, white, and blue look.

6. Fruit Sparklers

This American-themed food is perfect for kids and adults alike. All you need is a ripe watermelon, blueberries, and a star-shaped cookie cutter. These star pops remind me of sparklers, so they are a great addition to your Memorial Day festivities.

7. Patriotic Fruit Salsa

A twist on your typical salsa, this fruit version is made with strawberries, blueberries, red onions, cilantro, and an ingredient that isn’t well known, jicama. Making this is as easy as chopping up the ingredients and throwing them into a mixing bowl. You can serve with either tortilla chips or cinnamon sugar chips.

8. Patriotic Jello Parfait

This parfait is easily made with any red flavored jello (raspberry, black cherry, etc) and white chocolate pudding. Two ingredients that you really can’t go wrong with! When following this recipe, make sure you use regular dairy milk as the parfait will not set with a milk substitute such as almond or soy milk.

9. Sparkler Cupcakes

You cant have a Memorial Day party without an American-themed dessert, and these cupcakes are the perfect pairing. The recipe that goes with this photo calls for white cake and cherry jello, but you could easily use red velvet cake to obtain the red color.

10.Watermelon Pizzas

This delicious American-themed food is great for an after barbeque snack. You’ll need a watermelon sliced into 1-inch slices, cool whip, and any red and blue fruits. If you want to fancy it up, cut extra watermelon in star-shaped pieces and make an American flag for decoration.
