Yet when you’re craving something delicious but don’t want to put a lot of work in the kitchen, there is a solution! Here are 5 spectacular one skillet recipes that will leave you wanting more.

This recipe is great when you’re on the go and craving those breakfast favorites.

1. The Breakfast Skillet

When you want to start your day right but don’t want to waste time, this recipe is a must try. This recipe is full of the beloved breakfast favorites including sausage, bacon, eggs, hash browns, eggs and cheddar cheese. If you’re looking for all your breakfast favorites in one place, this recipe will not disappoint. 

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp canola oil
  • 15 ounces frozen hash browns, diced
  • 8 strips of bacon, cooked and chopped
  • 10 to 12 sausage links, cooked and chopped
  • 3 to eggs
  • ¾ cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 pinch pepper

Directions

Preheat your oven to 400F. Take an oven safe skillet and heat your oil in it over medium high heat. Add in your hash browns and cook thoroughly, lightly tossing them in the oil to get that perfect golden brown. Season your potatoes with salt and pepper and add your bacon. Cook for an additional 2 minutes, stirring occasionally. Next, smooth everything into an even layer in your skillet, making 3 to 6 wells within it, depending on how many eggs you want to add. Crack your eggs into the wells and sprinkle your shredded cheddar over the top. Insert into the oven and bake for 8 to 12 minutes. Serve and enjoy.

2. Cheeseburger Skillet

While this recipe sounds strange, it is packed full of comfort foods that will bring you back to your childhood. This dish is living proof that not all ingredients have to be kosher. Hamburger Helper is the star of this show and adds that perfect comforting touch to this dinner. If you crave the taste of childhood and dinners at your mother’s, try this recipe out. 

Ingredients

  • 1 pound of ground beef, ( or Hamburger Helper)
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 large pinch paprika
  • 1 large pinch onion powder
  • 1 large pinch garlic salt
  • 1 large pinch salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • ½ tsp of black pepper
  • 2 cups of hot water
  • 1 ½ cups milk
  • 2 cups of cavatappi pasta ( or macaroni noodles)
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese, grated

Directions

Begin by heating a large skillet over medium high heat. Add your ground beef, breaking it up and stirring occasionally until it is no longer pink. Drain the remaining fat out of the pan. Next, add in your cornstarch, garlic powder, paprika, salt, onion powder, sugar and pepper. Stir in thoroughly. Add your hot water, milk and pasta and bring to a boil. Cover with a lid and reduce the heat to a low simmer and let cook for 8 to 11 minutes. Then, sprinkle your cheddar cheese over the mixture and stir until the cheese has melted into a thick sauce. Remove from heat and let sit. Garnish to your liking, serve and enjoy.

3. Beef Burrito Skillet

Looking for a recipe that will give you delicious leftovers for days? This recipe is a must try for those who are craving that extra kick out of their skillet cravings. The beef burrito skillet is perfect for any meal or snacking occasion, leaving your schedule free and your belly full. 

Ingredients

  • 1 pound of ground beef
  • 1 package of taco seasoning
  • 1 cup of chunky salsa of your choice
  • 1 can of black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 4 flour tortillas sliced into 1 inch strips
  • 1 cup of Mexican cheese blend, shredded
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ¼ cup green onions, diced

Directions

In a large skillet on medium high heat, add your beef and cook until browned. Drain the remaining fat out of the pan before adding your taco seasoning, water, beans and salsa. Cook over medium high heat for 3 to 5 minutes or until the sauce has thickened. Then, reduce heat to low. Add in your tortilla strips and top with cheese. Remove the skillet from the heat and let your cheese melt. Add in sour cream and sprinkle lightly with onions. Serve and enjoy.

4. Chicken Couscous

This recipe is for those who are craving something a little more elegant out of their skillet dinners. The delicate meat of the chicken coupled with the tender texture of couscous makes for a marriage of comfort and gourmet. And while the prep of this recipe may take some extra effort, the impressive results are well worth it.

Ingredients

  • 4 chicken thighs
  • 1 pinch garlic powder
  • 1 small pinch paprika
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 pinch pepper
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 cup pearled couscous
  • 3 lemon slices
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 2 rosemary sprigs

Directions

Preheat your oven to 400F. In a small  bowl, mix together paprika, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Sprinkle generously over your chicken thighs. Next, heat up a cast iron skillet adding your olive oil to it over medium high heat. Transfer over your seasoned chicken into the skillet and cook until golden  brown, around 3 to 4 minutes per side. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set to the side. In the same skillet, add olive oil, garlic and couscous, cooking for about 2 to 3 minutes until fragrant. We are just trying to toast our couscous here, be careful not to burn it! Next, add your chicken broth and reduce, bringing up to a rolling boiling. Add your chicken back to the skillet and garnish with your lemon. Next, place your skillet into the oven and bake for 15 minutes. Let cool. Serve and enjoy.

5. Italian Style Chicken Skillet

This recipe is for all the Italian food lovers out there who don’t want to take an hour out of their day cooking a great meal. This skillet is packed with Italian favorites including tender chicken, soft veggies, ripe cherry tomatoes, garlic and parmesan. If you want the taste of Italy for your next skillet dinner, try this recipe out. 

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 ½ pounds boneless chicken thighs or breasts
  • ½ cup white onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 cups cherry tomatoes, sliced lengthwise
  • 4 cups baby spinach
  • ¼ cup basil, chopped
  • 2 to 3 tbsp parmesan, grated
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 pinch pepper
  • Add pasta if so desired

Directions

Begin by heating oil in a large skillet over medium high heat. Add your chicken and cook for 4 to 5 minutes, or until cooked through. Remove from the skillet and set the side. Next, add in your onion and garlic to the pan and cook until tender, around 4 to 5 minutes. Return your chicken to the pan and add your tomatoes, cooking for an additional 2 to 3 minutes. Add in your basil and spinach and cook until lightly wilted. Stir in your parmesan and season with salt and pepper. Serve and enjoy.
