There are several reasons why you need meditation in your daily routine, but some of us might not realize how crucial meditation is to our survival. There are 8 dimensions of wellbeing. Physical, emotional, financial, occupational, environmental, social, intellectual and last but not least spiritual. You spiritual wellness is what meditation targets. Spiritual wellness can be in several forms, not just religious. Spiritual wellness is whatever brings your core values, beliefs, and morals into your everyday life. We can become at peace and understand what our individual values are through meditation.
This is one of meditations greatest assets. Meditation allows you to sit back and live in the present. Each day we are supposed to be living our lives in the moment. Why do you think animals are so happy? A cat doesn’t say “oh my god my human stepped on my tail. What did I do wrong? Are they mad at me? Are they not going to feed me tonight?” and go into a spiral of negativity and stress. Of course not! They just say “ouch!” and move on just living in the moment. Meditation allows you to take a step back and relieve stress from your day to day life. You can meditate for a long time or just 5 minutes. There are even apps that give you options to select a meditation for the exact stress you are experiencing.
Meditation allows you to step back and have some me time. Only if it is for a short time. Having time to yourself is necessary to do every day no matter how long or how short of time you can fit into your crazy schedule, you need to make sure to make it! Choosing to spend this me time meditating will only benefit your mindset for the rest of the day. The best part? You can take this me time anywhere. You need 5 minutes at the office? Just sit back in your chair and focus on your breathing for a few minutes. You can even do this to help you go to bed. Throw on a night time meditation on your phone before you are going to sleep and your mind will ease as you drift off into a restless sleep.
Meditation in your everyday routine really helps you find some clarity throughout your life and certain situations. Sitting back and meditating can sometimes help you discover a solution to certain things you are experiencing in your life. Listening to a meditation allows all of your thoughts to clear up and think of an idea that you may not come to if your mind is racing. You may discover something about yourself, or something you want to try, through meditation. As discussed before, certain apps allow you to target different problems in your life. Sometimes the meditation will say something that enlightens you to a whole other way of looking at a certain aspect within your life. Meditation is a really great way to open your eyes and get out of your own little box.
You can learn a lot about yourself through meditation. What do you like? What don’t you like? What are the majority of thoughts the pass through your head each day? It even helps you clarify some of your strengths and weaknesses. One of the best things to do after you complete a meditation is journaling about your experience. If you write down your thoughts that you came up with after your meditation experience, it seems to solidify the things you learned about yourself even further. When you are in a bad place and needing to find yourself or obtain more self love, anything that you need to heal yourself for, meditation is going to be one of the most helpful things in order to do that.
