Halloween is by far the best holiday of the year, not only does it mark the beginning of the holiday season, Halloween is the least stressful holiday at the end of the year. Halloween is the last carefree fun holiday before the stressful Thanksgiving prep and holiday shopping begin. It is the calm before the storm, our last defense before the obnoxious Christmas commercials start and the red and green decorations invade stores for the next two months. Here are just a few reasons why Halloween is the best.

1. The Costumes

Halloween is the season of creativity. You can be creative as you want with costumes; you can stick with the classic costumes like witches, vampires, mummies, and Frankenstein. Some people opt for the more modern costumes like their favorite TV or movie characters, food, and the always fun black cat. Some people go out and buy their costumes, while others decide to make their costumes by hand. Dressing up as whatever you want is one of the best parts about Halloween.

2. The Decorations

The decorations for Halloween are some of the best and most fun holiday decorations. Many people have fun childhood memories of going to a pumpkin patch with their family and searching for the perfect pumpkin. After hours of searching through pumpkins that were too small or not the perfect shape you finally found the perfect pumpkin to take home. Going home and laying out old newspaper on the kitchen table so you can carve the perfect pumpkin. Some people love scooping out the guts of the pumpkin, while others think it’s gross and delegate that job to someone else. But the best part of carving a pumpkin is, of course, the finished jack-o-lantern. No matter how much you messed up the carving once you put the candle in it, it becomes the perfect jack-o-lantern. The fun and spooky decorations don’t stop at the pumpkins either. Houses covered in spider webs, eerie fog, scary music, creepy skeletons, and fake spiders complete the spooky Halloween season.

There are so many different things to do during Halloween. There are so many haunted houses, haunted hayrides, haunted mazes, haunted theme parks that make Halloween the best holiday and most fun holiday of the year. If you’re not into all the scary and gory Halloween attractions, there are other festive things you can do without screaming your head off. Fun fall festivals, cider tastings and of course pumpkin patches are all fun Halloween activities everyone can enjoy.

Halloween is the best holiday because there is something fun for everyone. Not everything has to be scary and not everything has to be for little kids. The smell of cider, squishing the pumpkin guts in your hand, screaming in a haunted house, memories of trick or treating with friends, picking your costume and mountains of candy are all reasons why Halloween is the best holiday of the year.
