If you’re like me and aren’t exactly an iron chef, quesadillas and their many variations should be your go-to’s. Quesadillas are delicious yet extremely quick and easy to make. Additionally, they require limited kitchen skills- perfect for me. Lastly, there are so many different ways to make a quesadilla so you will never be bored because it will never feel like you are eating the same food. All you have to do is channel some creativity, and you will be able to make a wide variety of meals with solely a tortilla wrap. Get inspired and take a look at these 7 ways to make a quesadilla!

1. Original

I’m going to start off with the most basic quesadilla. This staple meal can be customized by either adding a protein, such as chicken or steak, or leaving it plain with just cheese. This simple quesadilla is a staple in my kitchen because it can be made in minutes and is effortlessly delicious. Add salsa, guacamole, and queso on the side and garnish with a little cilantro, and this meal is set to go.

2. Pizza-dilla

A pizza-dilla is exactly as its name denotes, a pizza quesadilla. This meal is a fabulous alternative if you are craving pizza but don’t want to consume a large number of carbs. All you will need for this quesadilla is some pizza or tomato sauce, cheese, and toppings of your choice. A pizza-dilla is low carb but you would never know because it’s that good! I highly recommend trying this quesadilla out if you’re a pizza lover like me.

3. Substitute the cheese

This quesadilla is perfect for those who are lactose intolerant or are simply not into cheese. This vegan-friendly dish uses hummus as the replacement to the cheese that’s typically in a quesadilla. Though some may find this strange, I can honestly say that I can barely tell the difference when I’m eating it. Add some tomatoes and spinach to keep it light and fresh and you have a healthy and delicious meal!

4. Garden variety

This vegetable-packed quesadilla is my go-to dinner meal because it’s bursting with flavor and ensures I am getting my daily dose of greens. This quesadilla calls for zucchini, summer squash, bell pepper, red onion, and Portobello mushrooms. Grill up all of these vegetables and then cut up into smaller pieces so they fit better in the tortilla. If you have extras save them for your next meal! Add mozzarella cheese as the base to your quesadilla, sprinkle on some goat cheese, and then dollop on the pesto. This favor packed meal is sure to become one of your favorites. Give it a try!

5. Greek-inspired

This Greek-inspired dish is honestly one of my favorites. The classic Greek flavors come together and shine and when the Greek yogurt tzatziki sauce is added, this dish becomes irresistible. For this quesadilla, you will need spinach, sundried tomatoes, olives (preferably kalamata olives), shredded mozzarella, feta cheese, and some fresh dill. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese on the tortilla as the base and then add on the rest of the ingredients. Now, to make the Greek yogurt tzatziki sauce. Begin by combining 1 cup of plain Greek yogurt, 1 diced cucumber, 2 cloves of pressed garlic, dill, 1 tbs lemon juice, and 1 tsp lemon zest in a small bowl. Season with salt and pepper then drizzle 2 tbs of olive oil. Refrigerate for at least 10 minutes and then serve. This dish is one of the most complicated of the quesadillas, and in reality, it’s really not that complicated. Impress your friends and family with this easy and delicious meal!

6. Buffalo Chicken

Buffalo chicken quesadillas are a fan favorite and rightfully so. These spicy slices are the perfect treat for Sunday football games or just as a snack for yourself. There are a couple of ways you can go about creating this dish. You could cook pulled chicken and then make buffalo chicken dip and then put it on the tortilla, but that’s kind of complicated. If it were me, I could use any chicken I have, cut it up into smaller pieces, put it in a bowl with buffalo sauce, and combine the two. Then I would add the cheese onto my tortilla and pour the chicken and excess buffalo sauce onto the wrap. Let it cook and voila! An easy and delicious quesadilla you won’t be able to resist. Add some sour cream to the side to dilute the spice and you have yourself a full meal!

7. Snack-a-dilla

Who said quesadillas could only be lunch and dinner foods? What about dessert! Snack-a-dilla, a name I coined, is the simplest sweet treat. I enjoy making these quesadillas because it’s far easier than making a batch of cookies or brownies. All you need for this recipe is a sliced up banana, Nutella, peanut butter, or jelly! I personally enjoy combining the banana and Nutella, but peanut butter and banana or peanut butter and jelly are also really good. Experiment with different toppings to make it your own. This dish is so addicting and if you use a low-carb tortilla wrap, better for you than many other desserts!

8. Churro Style

The last quesadilla on my list is another sweet one. All you need for this recipe is some cinnamon and sugar. Also for this quesadilla, I would recommend using oil or butter to cook the tortilla so the cinnamon and sugar will adhere better. While your cooking the tortilla combine the cinnamon and sugar and then generously apply it to both sides of the wrap. From here you can choose to leave it plain and cut it up, or drizzle Nutella or caramel sauce on the top. I have also seen recipes where you add whipped cream and your favorite berries inside, but I haven’t tried it yet. No matter what you top this quesadilla with, I can guarantee that it will satisfy your sweet tooth and be the perfect sweet treat.
