5 Reasons Why You Should Join The Revolution And Buy Vegan Clothes

Veganism is becoming so prominent and important in the world today as more people are educating themselves on how the consumption of animal products is not only cruel for animals but how they are also damaging the environment and our health. An area of great importance to focus on is fashion. So many fashion companies create clothes and shoes made with real animal skins, feathers and hair which is completely unnecessary.  We have listed below, 5 reasons why you should join the revolution and buy vegan clothes!

1. Animal Cruelty

Animal rights is the most recognisable reason for swapping to vegan clothes. Showing compassion and kindness to those who have no voice is always a good thing to do. Innocent animals are being abused and killed so that designers and clothing companies can create garments of clothing which is unethical. For example, birds are live-plucked for their feathers causing them great pain and agony. Cows, sheep, foxes and birds are either captured or specifically bred and kept in confined cages and then killed for fashion. By swapping to vegan clothes, you’re giving innocent beings a chance at a better life and encouraging others to do the same.

2. Sustainability & Climate Change

We all know how important and how real climate change is so we need to make changes to help the planet. There are many materials used in fashion made from animals such as leather, silk, cotton and wool which are extremely damaging to the environment. Cow farms are also another issue affecting the environment. Cows produce a high amount of CO2 which is the number one gas damaging the environment today as high levels of carbon dioxide causes thermal energy to become trapped by the atmosphere resulting in an abnormally warmer planet, creating a sea of knock on affects . By cutting down the amount of cow farms we have, we can drastically reduce the CO2 levels causing global warming which can help slow down climate change. Vegan clothes are more sustainable than clothing made by animals as the production and materials used are less damaging and healthier for the environment.

3. Eco-Fabric Durability

Vegan clothes are made with fabrics that are eco-friendly and that can last for a longer amount of time which means that you can not only keep your clothes in pristine condition but you are also saving money as you won’t need to keep purchasing the same item.  In sharp comparison, clothes that are made with animal skins, feathers or hair only have a certain shelf life or can only be worn in certain weather. For example, leather begins to crack over time and can’t be worn in wet weather as it damages the fabric, causing it to shrink and fray. Feathered clothing also can’t be worn in wet weather as the water damages the feathers and over time, the feathers will fall out or become shabby. It’s more beneficial for you to spend your money on clothing that has good durability and practicality and the fact that vegan clothes use eco-fabrics is not only amazing for the environment but makes you feel good wearing the clothing!

4. World Hunger

Farms around the world are solely breeding animals for fashion. Vast amounts of grains and gallons of water is being used to feed these animals who are then sent to the slaughter house months later for the purpose of making a leather skirt or feather jacket. Meanwhile, there are millions of people who are starving and who don’t have access to clean water let alone a gallon of water. This isn’t necessary when vegan clothing is available to us. Swapping to vegan clothing could help reduce the amount of farms being used for this purpose.
