5 Reasons You Should Go To Newcastle’s Hit The North Festival
The inner-city festival is hitting multiple venues across Newcastle in May, in its second year running. Last year was pretty incredible for a first try, and it’s set to get even better. The line-ups have been released and tickets have been selling left, right, and centre. Even if the line-up doesn’t tickle your fancy, here are 5 reasons to go to Newcastle’s Hit The North Festival!
1. Geordie gig culture
Crowds at gigs can vary from way over the top to people literally not even moving. Geordie’s have found the perfect balance. They know when to get rowdy and have a dance, and when to relax and just enjoy the music. Either way, the room is guaranteed to have that sweaty (but in a good way) smell and tons of spilt beer all over the floor. Just the way we like it.
2. Fun city/drinking weekend
Roaming across town for a couple of days straight will help you find your way into many Spoons and cheap eateries. Add in a couple of your mates to fill in the gaps between sets and take breaks from the loud venues, and you are bound to have a good time. Even if you’re not particularly there for the music, it’s a great set-up for some time with your pals.
3. Scope out the best gig venues
If you’re a bit of a music geek and new to the toon, you are probably dying to find all the best music venues. Whether you prefer intimate gigs or bigger venues with more space to boogie, Hit the North will have something for you and will help you find your favourite haunt.
4. Listen to new music
Whilst there are big names hitting the festival this year, like Peace, The Horrors, and Pale Waves, Hit the North loves to give a platform for upcoming music (especially if the artist is from the North East). If you find yourself with a spare hour, head towards a band you’ve never listened to before- you never know, you might find a new fave.
5. Festival vibes without the mud and porta-loos
We all love a festival and are getting ready for the season to begin. What a better way to bide the time than to attend a slightly more V.I.P version? Forget mud and porta-loos and say hello to swanky venues and affordable food. The only downside is that glitter on your face might look a bit out of place in Newcastle city centre.
