7 Most Overrated Places To Go To In Birmingham

mm
These are the most overrated places you can go in Birmingham. Trust me, there are better places that you can visit in the city.

Birmingham is a booming city but it’s not the best city in the UK, nor is it the most exciting. Even though there are loads of amazing things to do here like Cadbury’s world and have great food in the new Grand Central there are many overrated places too. Here are 7 overrated places to go in Birmingham:

1. Bullring

This has to be the most overrated place in Birmingham because it’s nothing compared to London’s Westfield or Manchester’s Trafford  Center (with it’s amazing food court). Bullring sure as hell needs updating, the only great thing about going into town is the Grand Central which has just recently been built and looks so much better. And don’t even get me started on the damn bull just outside Bullring which may just be the most overrated statue in the entire world.

2. Starcity

This is another overrated place to go in Birmingham because all it is is an attraction which looks half finished, with a cinema, arcade, funfair and a few restaurants. On paper this sounds like the perfect day out for a family but you’ll just get bored after an hour unless you go to the cinema which is okay but why go so far for a cinema when there are cheaper and better ones in the City Center.

3. Library Of Birmingham

This is one of Birmingham main attractions but what people don’t realise is that it is just a library full of books and a few CDs. If you’re crazy about books then this is perfect for you but as for everyone else you wouldn’t love it as much. There is a view of Birmingham from the Secret Garden but I mean it’s Birmingham not Dubai so it’s not as pretty as you might imagine it to be.

4. The Mailbox

I’ve lived in Birmingham all 18 years of my life and I’ve been to The Mailbox all of three times in my life. The Mailbox is full of the high end shops and a few restaurants alongside a canal which doesn’t look half bad at night, but the shopping mall itself is for people with a lot of disposable income which just reminds the rest of us that we don’t have as much money as them.

5. Canon Hill Park

Canon Hill Park is a park opposite the Edgbaston Cricket Grounds and is quite big. Birmingham has the most amount of parks than other other city in the UK which is impressive and Canon Hill Park is one of the more popular ones. Canon Hill Park has gone down hill recently though, they used to have these swan boat things you can go on the lake with but for some reason they haven’t been used in years, all there is to do now is to walk around which gets boring after half an hour.

6. MAC

The MAC is the Midlands Art Center which is supposed to be a gallery with a cinema right next to Canon Hill Park. But that is over over over selling it, there’s like two exhibitions which are tiny and has anyone ever actually been to the cinema? There is food in a cafe but you’ll be paying ÂŁ5 for a bag of chips so in this case food doesn’t make it any better.

7. The Canals

Even though Birmingham has more canals than Venice they’re not even half as beautiful, they were only made for industrial purposes in the 19th century. Birmingham is known for the canals but they’re really not that great, but they do look pretty around the city center with the restaurants along side them.
