Female Owned Brands To Support In 2019

In a world where women ruling is becoming the norm, female owned brands are also becoming more widely seen.

From women standing up for their rights and going for higher positions in the working world to activism on the runway a la Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel, women in positions of power are making themselves known in the world.

Females have been reclaiming the fashion world by launching their own brands with their own creative ideas away from the influence of others. Without further ado, let these female owned brands inspire you in 2019!

Wildfang

Female owned brands with feminist messages have been taking the lead in setting the tone for fashion going forward. Wildfang is just one of these brands hoping to make a positive change.

The company was started by three women who broke out of their regular routine and decided to take on the fashion world together. They came from high paid jobs and positions of power and decided to give back into the world rather than sitting back and benefiting from the privilege they accumulated.

Wildfang started with the goals to empower other women and destroy the patriarchal systems that hold us back from doing what we want to do and being who we want to be. Sometimes the goal is as simple as wanting to feel free to wear suits or dress masculine. Other times it is to wear our feminism on a shirt proudly for the world to see.

The brand itself is committed to selling masculine looks to female consumers who might find themselves feeling out of place among feminine fashion. It is about finding comfort with your masculine side and not being afraid to dress in what would be typically classed as men’s clothing.

The brand has also donated money to causes such as Planned Parenthood and RAICES with its mission for equality and helped save the last abortion clinic in South Dakota from closing down.

The Outrage

This female owned brand is an activist for more than just women’s rights.

Their slogan apparel and accessories all go towards donating money to great causes. It started off with the launch of Pantsuit Nation which sold items reclaiming the nasty woman narrative. The profits were then donated to planned parenthood in Donald Trump’s name.

Since then the company has grown to become known among prominent activist groups and activist celebrities. They have since partnered with Pride, The Women’s March, March For Our Lives, and Science + Climate Change March among other causes to fight for people’s rights and lives.

Valfré

Mexican female owned brands aren’t always the easiest to come by but always put forward the best of themselves.

Ilse Valfré created the brand as a way to let everyone else into her psychedelic and wonderful world. The collections can range from edgy to vulnerable to confident and feminine. Women are not all made from the same mould, we are all different and have different ways of expressing ourselves to the world around us and Valfré accommodates this need for individuality.

The beaded pieces Susan creates are colourful, unique and contain echoes of vintage fashion as well. Each handcrafted item contains over 300 beads and is hand painted.

The items are fit for a range of styles whether you’re looking for something a bit kitsch or something edgy. The designs themselves feature a range that will surely attract anyone who wants to stand out from a crowd with their accessories.

Universal Standard

Even female owned brands sometimes fail to accommodate to all women in their fashion brands.

Universal Standard is size friendly and committed to the idea that a woman’s size should not mean she should compromise on aesthetics.

The clothing items made are still flattering on the body despite being made for a bigger size. Many regular retailers would not consider how an item might actually sit on a woman’s body if she were bigger, they just add more fabric which can often leave garments shapeless and unattractive.

Universal Standard understand these concerns and make sure to create their garments with the look in mind. Being fashionable need not be a problem again!
