10 TV Shows You Should Binge Watch Right Now

mm

I think you are familiar with the situation where you keep lying to yourself, saying that this will be the last episode you watch and then before you know it, it’s episode number 6. More often than not, this happens on school nights, when there’s a huge assignment due the next day. At this point, it’s better to just accept human nature and finish that season before pulling an all-nighter and hating yourself in the morning. So if you are going to give up your beauty sleep to binge watch a show, you might as well do it with the best ones. Keep reading for some of the best TV shows you should binge watch right now!

If you’re into sitcoms:

1. FRIENDS

You may call me biased when I say FRIENDS is the best show ever made, but hear me prove why. For starters, you can watch the entire show from start to finish countless number of times and you will still find yourself laughing out loud at the same old jokes. Unlike other sitcoms, FRIENDS actually follows a story line, with the pieces falling into place throughout the show instead of just stretching out the love story of the main couple and uniting them the final season. Despite being a sitcom, it evokes enough emotions to make you cry sometimes, and by the end of the series, you will actually feel like a part of their squad. So trust me when I say that, Netflix and chilling by yourself with pizza and FRIENDS, is the best way to spend a Saturday night alone without feeling bad about it.

2. Modern Family

This sitcom is different in a way that it is filmed in a mockumentary style and doesn’t have a laugh track. It has an ensemble cast and depicts the story of three different families and their everyday lives. Its fresh jokes, satirical vibe and the obvious characteristic stereotypes make it remarkably hilarious. And if that isn’t enough, remember that Modern Family has won 22 Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Comedy series for the first five consecutive seasons.

If you’re all about the drama:

3. Grey’s Anatomy

Yes, it’s true that this show will play with your emotions like no other. Your favorite characters will die when you are least expecting it, leaving you sobbing like a baby; and not going to med school to be a surgeon will somehow become the biggest regret of your life. And yet you won’t be able to quit watching it once you get entangled in the lives of this badass group of doctors. Their friendships, strength, attitude, and witty monologues will connect to you so deeply that their heartbreak will soon be your heartbreak.

4. Orange Is The New Black

OITNB, based on Piper Kerman’s memoir “Orange Is the New Black: My Year in a Women’s Prison” follows the story of a group of women, each with a different background and individual story, that ended up in prison. Each episode simultaneously moves forward the story line and includes flashback scenes to show the lives of the characters before they went to prison. It also addresses issues like police mistreatment, mental health and sexual assault. This show is raw, original, realistic, and feminist, and focuses on the strength of women despite their color, nationality, religion and sexual orientation.

If crime shows are more your thing:

5. Sherlock

One word to describe this miniseries would be “genius”. Benedict Cumberbatch perfectly plays the role of the extremely intelligent, eccentric detective, Sherlock, while Martin Freeman makes a great sidekick, Dr. Watson. It’s fascinating to see Sherlock solve the crime as he pays attention to the smallest details to paint the crime scene in front of his eyes. Simultaneously, it also shows the personal life of Sherlock and his relationships with the classic and notorious characters Irene Adler, Jim Moriarty and Mycroft Holmes.

6. Criminal Minds

Yet another show with an ensemble cast, this one stands out from the everyday police procedural crime dramas because it is set at the FBI’s Behaviorial Analysis Unit, where they put more focus on analyzing the psychopathic killer and less on the crime as a whole. They figure out details about his past, think from his perspective and run a race against him as they try to save his next possible victim.

7. Breaking Bad

A high school chemistry teacher, Walter White decides to get into the meth business to leave enough money for his family when he finds out he has lung cancer. He partners up with his old student Jesse, now a local drug dealer, and tries to dominate the meth market in New Mexico. The growth of the relationship between Jesse and Walter, their escapades from well-known drug mafia, the gradual change in their characteristics, and the constant fight between greed and wanting to protect their loved ones altogether makes this a great thriller full of nail biting scenes.

8. The Walking Dead

If you think you’re too mature for zombies, think again. TWD has the perfect amount of horror, drama and action. It shows the extremes of human psychology and the lengths they would go to in an apocalyptic world. From murder to cannibalism, they would do anything to survive. The zombies look so real you can feel your heart racing when you find the characters trapped in a situation. It’s gruesome but in the most badass ways and the cliffhangers at the end of the seasons will make you ache for the next season premiere.

This mystery thriller will drive you crazy with all the twists and suspects and make you desperate to find out who A is.

10. Teen Wolf

I don’t know about you but I have always found werewolves way more interesting than vampires. This show, based on the 1985 teen film of the same name, follows the story of a high school boy Scott McCall after he gets bitten by a werewolf and he and his friends together fight a number of supernatural villains to survive and protect their loved ones. The drama and action is so engrossing that you won’t be able to sleep until you have binged watched the entire latest season. Plus, it’s got Tyler Posey, Dylan O’Brien, Tyler Hoechlin and Colton Haynes, all starring together. Seriously, how much more eye candy could one show have?
