Tips To Staying Healthy This Summer

Summertime is upon us which means it’s time to get out in the sun and have some fun! The next few months are filled with endless hours spent by the water, as well as trying to stay cool while relaxing or going on fun vacations.

Summer is awesome, but it’s important to stay healthy during these warmer months. That’s why I’ve created this little guide of tips and tricks to staying healthy this summer. Enjoy!

Staying Healthy Is Staying Hydrated

It’s important to stay hydrated all the time, but especially in the summer. As we spend lots of time in the hot sun and sweat out lots of the moisture in our bodies, we need to be sure to replenish it!

It’s recommended that we drink 8-10 8 ounce glasses of water a day to stay hydrated. Our bodies are made up of about 65% water and it’s important to keep that in mind when spending time in the warmer weather.

Our bodies lose water quicker when we are outdoors in the heat so it’s important to keep your water bottle close by and filled up, especially in the hot summer! You can even add a little flavor by dropping your favorite fruits in.

Drinking water has so many benefits like giving you a boost of energy, clearing your skin, boosting your immune system, good brain health, flushing out toxins in the body, and many more! Click here to read more about drinking enough water during the summer.

Remember, staying healthy is staying hydrated!

Get Out In The Sun

While staying hydrated, it’s important to spend some time in the beautiful summer sun! The sun gives us an important vitamin we need called vitamin D. We can get this by spending about 10-30 minutes in the sun with no sunscreen, preferably between 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The amount of time you need to spend in the sun also depends on how pale your skin is. Click here to read more about how you can get the right amount of vitamin D this summer!

Spending time in the sun is a part of staying healthy. It can lift your mood almost instantly, and give you a nice summer glow. But it’s important to remember to spend your time in the sun in a healthy way, using the proper amount of sunscreen, wearing your sunnies, and not staying out too long!

Don’t Forget To Wear Sunscreen

Wearing sunscreen is one of the most important tips to staying healthy this summer. This will benefit your body short and long-term! Going in the sun without protection can be very dangerous depending on how long you stay out. That’s why it’s important to stay on the safer side of things and wear at least a 30 SPF sunscreen.

Make sure the sunscreen you purchase is broad spectrum, meaning that it will protect you from UVA rays (associated with aging) and UVB rays (associated with skin cancers and burns). Even if the sun isn’t out, make sure to stay protected because most of those harmful rays can still shine through the clouds.

Wearing sunscreen is so important and your skin will thank you now and in the years to come!

Exercise And Listen To Your Body

Exercise is an important part of staying healthy mentally and physically. Even though sometimes during the summer it’s easy to get in the habit of relaxing and taking it easy, it’s important to keep our bodies moving.

The most important thing to remember is to listen to your body and keep a balance in everything you do. Your body will thank you if you integrate exercising into your weekly routine this summer, as well as throughout the rest of the year!

Maybe try a fun workout on the beach and stay tuned for my article on a fun workout you can try at the pool. Take the challenge of keeping your body moving in some way almost every day this summer, even if it’s just a little bit!

Eat Healthy

Summer months can come with fun vacations with friends and/or family, and many exciting activities. Lot’s of these will include delicious foods! Treat yourself and don’t be afraid to indulge every once in a while.

Life is short, but it’s important to do everything in moderation. Try to choose the healthiest options but also don’t feel bad about having seconds or lots of dessert every now and then! Just try to listen to your body and don’t beat yourself up about eating one more cookie or slice of cake.

When you’re by the pool, snack on healthy and hydrating foods like strawberries, watermelons, and maybe even cucumbers with your favorite dip! Making small healthy choices will add up, and you will be able to tell the difference in the way you feel this summer.

Stay Balanced And Have Fun

With all of these healthy tips, it’s important to keep balance. You don’t have to live strictly trying to be the healthiest you can all the time. It’s important to keep balance in your life, and do everything with moderation.

Following these tips with balance will keep you happy, healthy, and hydrated. Remember to have fun, and enjoy each day. That’s one of the most important tips to having a happy and healthy time this summer!
