10 Things You Only Understand If You Live In Hume Hall at UF
Deciding where to live in college is a huge choice. For those of us who experience the #dormlife, there are some things we are all too familiar with. However, not every dorm is the same. Some residence halls are more social or more quiet, have bigger or smaller rooms, or offer communal or shared bathrooms. After living in Hume Hall my freshman year at UF, there are a few things that I learned. Here are 10 things you only understand if you live in Hume Hall at UF.
1. Friends in other dorms are jealous because you only share a bathroom with 4 people, instead of a full floor of people.
2. The study rooms.
The study rooms located in the dorm are your own personal study sanctuaries that are super convenient and don’t require you to chance the ones at Marston or Lib West being full.
3. Hume Hall West just seems so much farther away from things than Hume Hall East does.
4. Even though Hume is home to the Honors Residential College on campus, not only Honors students live there.
5. When you say you live in Hume Hall, people automatically ask if you are in the Honors College.
6. Compared to other dorms, it doesn’t have that older dorm feel.
Hume is a relatively new residence hall, built in 2002!
7. The bus drops off closer to Hume Hall East and feels like a struggle for those who live in Hume Hall West.
8. The convenience of Chomp It.
One of the staple Gainesville restaurants, is located right across the street and makes for the perfect spot to grab chicken tenders and fries, grilled cheese, and any other late night snacks.
9. Convenient parking if you need it!
If you bring your car with you to school, the parking lot located right behind Hume Hall makes parking your car so much more convenient.
10. Making great friends!
Whether it is at floor meetings, watching TV in the common area, or sharing the kitchen, there are many great people to meet in Hume Hall who will be your friends for the rest of your time in college.
