The Country Song Playlist You Need For This Semester

mm
From love songs to inspiring songs, country music can get you through anything. Here is the country song playlist you need to help you through the semester!

Lately, I’ve been struggling to get used to this new semester from moving into my first apartment to getting into my new major. There have been a lot of changes in my life in the course of just a few months and like most people, I find a lot of solace in music. Even though country music may be an acquired taste for most people, I love country music because of the eloquent lyrics that 99.9% of the time are easy to relate to. From love songs to party songs to songs that help you deal with heartbreak, here are 15 country songs that will get any college girl through the rest of her fall semester. #getitgirl

1. Doin’ Fine by Lauren Alaina

This Georgia Peach is one of the most underrated country music stars. This song will not only help you when you may be dealing with an upsetting situation but the lyrics will remind you that eventually you’ll be ok.  “I’m not okay but I’m gonna be alright. For the first time in a long time I’m doing fine.”

2. Peter Pan by Kelsea Ballerini

This song will help you get through all the angst that comes with breakups or just dealing with boys as a college girl in general. I listen to this song when I’m trying to remind myself what I deserve in a relationship. “You don’t understand, You’ll never grow up. You’re never gonna be a man. Peter Pan.”

3. Wanna Be That Song by Brett Eldredge

This song is for all my ladies in love. I think this is one of the most romantic songs ever. I feel these lyrics every time I find myself catching the feels. Honestly, whoever Brett Eldredge sings this song about is one very lucky woman because of the romance behind this song. Can we also talk about how cute the music video is? “I wanna be that song that gets you high. Makes you dance, makes you fall.”

4. Country Girl (Shake it for me) by Luke Bryan

Now this is a fun one. If you just feel like dancing around in your room or jamming really loud in the car with the windows down as often as I do then this is the jam for you. “Shake it to the moon, shake it for me girl. Aw, country girl, shake it for me”

5. Beer Money by Kip Moore

I think most broke college students can relate to this song. This song talks about having a good time after working hard all week and even having enough beer money to go out. “So come on, come on, Baby, I’m buying. I got enough to last us all night.”

6. The Heart of Dixie by Danielle Bradberry

This song can get any girl through any breakup, as well as empower her. Plus she performed this song on one of my all time favorite TV show by the same name! “She’s got the fire and the fight of a gypsy. Ain’t nothing stronger than the heart of Dixie.”

7. Beachin’ by Jake Owen

Wishing you were on the beach instead of studying for your exams? This song can take your imagination to warm sandy beaches with a margarita in your hand with its upbeat lyrics and fast beat.“We got 2-for-1s, we’re at a margarita bar, whatever happens happens.”

8. South Side by Thomas Rhett

This is another fun dance song. I absolutely love Thomas Rhett and this song gets me up and dancing every time. One of my favorite college memories so far is shaking it to this song during the Thomas Rhett concert with my sorority sisters. “Now people on the left. Shake your south side.”

9. Somethin Bad by Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood

This song is good when you want to get pumped up for a night out with your girls. “Stand on the bar, stomp your feet, get clapping. Got a real good feeling something bad about to happen.”

10. Gunpowder and Lead by Miranda Lambert

Speaking of Miranda Lambert, this song is the perfect song for any angry college girl who feels hurt by any man. I use this song as a way of coping with my past abusive relationships and to remind myself that I’m a strong and independent woman who can’t be pushed down by any “man”.  “If he wants a fight, well, now he’s got one. And he ain’t seen me crazy yet. He slapped my face, and he shook me like a rag doll. Don’t that sound like a real man?”

This song is about all my hardworking females. “She’s a small-town, hard-working woman just trying to make a living.”

12. I like the Sound of That by Rascal Flatts

Here’s another song for my ladies in love. Country music is full of beautiful romantic lyrics and this song is another example of that. “It’s way too quiet at my place. Wanna come on over, come on over. I just wanna hear that ringtone. I like it turned up when you’re blowin’ up my phone.”

13. Alright by Darius Rucker

This is a feel good song when you just want to remind yourself of the little things you have in life as a broke college student. “Don’t need no five star reservations. I’ve got spaghetti and a cheap bottle of wine…But as far as I can see, I’ve got everything I want. Cause I’ve got a roof over my head..”

14. H.O.L.Y. by Florida Georgia Line

Need another song when you’re in your feels or when you’re catching the feels? Don’t date a guy unless he believes these lyrics to be about you or even get him to sing this song to you. (Future first dance song at your wedding anybody?) “You’re an angel, tell me you’re never leaving. ‘Cause you’re the first thing I know I can believe in.”

15. Body Like A Back Road by Sam Hunt

Honestly this song is barely country but all girls love the cutie named Sam Hunt and this song has been tearing up country and pop radio. Chances are pretty high that you’ll hear this song at your next campus tailgate. “Body like a back road, drivin’ with my eyes closed. I know every curve like the back of my hand.”
