When looking for new places to eat around Queens, we often run into one problem. It seems to just be sports bar after sports bar followed by a chicken restaurant and then fast food. After a while it all gets a bit old. Thankfully, I have just the thing to spice up your night out. Keep reading for SJU Foodie’s review of Oceanic Boil in Queens!
A dream realized!
Oceanic Boil is run by owner Kenny Tran who wanted to bring something new to our beloved Queens. After traveling to Houston, Texas he realized that his dream was to open a crawfish restaurant – and that’s what he did. After what took years to create, Oceanic Boil was finally opened on April 27th of 2016.
It’s super casual, in a fun way.
Messy is good here. The tables are wrapped in brown paper and the food is wrapped with a plastic bag as soon as it comes out. Diners are also given plastic gloves to better aid them in digging into their buckets of clams, crawfish, shrimp and more.
The seafood menu of dreams!
Everything is to be eaten by hand, so get ready to lick your fingers clean. Along with their finger lickin’ buckets, the menu also includes crab cakes, lobster rolls, fried seafood baskets and a raw bar filled with shrimp, clams and lobster.
Everything from the food to décor has a southern feel with an Asian flare. It’s something unique to this area!
If you’re down to get a little dirty and try some new cuisine, this place should be next on your list! Check them out at 84-20 37th Ave, Jackson Heights, NY 11372.
