Traveling is a necessity in life. To be able to see all the beauty that this world has to offer is truly a privilege and should be taken advantage of as much as possible. Just in the United States alone, there are hundreds and thousands of beautiful places to appreciate. So if adventure is calling you, take a look at this list of scenic places in the U.S. that you just have to visit!

1. Redwood National and State Parks, California

The California redwood forests are truly one of Earth’s greatest creations. And if you decide to visit for yourself, you’ll see why. These enormous trees can grow over 200 feet tall and are simply stunning. Found on the northern coast of California, any nature lover would die to see these trees in real life. You could simply get lost in these forests and forget all your troubles, and remind yourself how minuscule you really are in comparison to the Earth. The states of California and Nevada don’t let us down when it comes to beautiful and scenic places to visit. Lake Tahoe is just that, with just about 22 miles of clear blue freshwater to explore. If mountains and hiking aren’t really your thing, check out the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah! The miles and miles of salt are the remains of an ancient lake that dried up, which is not only super interesting, it’s very beautiful as well. You could instantly get lost in these salt flats, and forget all of your problems. The stark whiteness of the salt against the bright blue sky creates such a picturesque scene, that this spot is often a place for wedding or engagement photos. And if you’re wondering, you can in fact eat the salt!

Exploring a mountain range is not only one of the most daring things you can do, but it’s also one of the most beautiful. You can experience all four seasons in this stunning mountain range, whether you’re trekking through snow in the winter or biking in the summer. Or, perhaps you’d like to visit in the fall when the leaves turn bright red and orange and the air is crisp. The Wave in northern Arizona is a sandstone rock formation that began forming 190 million years ago in the desert dunes. Speaking of otherworldly places to visit, Shiprock, New Mexico will equally stun you with its scenic beauty. This volcanic rock formation located on a Navajo reservation in San Juan County, New Mexico stands at 7,177 feet above sea level and looks like something straight out of a science-fiction movie. Since it is sacred to the Navajos, climbing or hiking close to the rock formation in forbidden, but you can still get pretty close without trespassing.

This 17 miles of land along Kauai Island, Hawaii is an extraordinary place of beauty that’s known for its stunning cliffs, waterfalls, valleys, and streams.
