Deciding on where you want to go to college can be a tough decision, which can take months of deliberation. Things like tuition, distance from home, and scholarships can affect where you want to go to school; but to help you decide, here’s why I chose to go to JWU!
Your college experience goes by so much faster with trimesters!! 9 weeks of learning/class time; 1 week of 2 reading days and 2 midterm days; and 1 week of 2 reading days and 2 finals days. All together 11 week courses that are only 4 days a week!
If you aren’t in SHARP (honors program) then you only take 4 classes each week. Some classes are more challenging than others. The website Ratemyprofessors.com is a good tool to learn more about the professors, and which one you think is a good match in your major. Also, having Friday through Sunday to relax, do homework, work and/or explore the city is totally worth it!
Considering I am only an hour and a half away from home, which is Connecticut, I can go home when needed or for emergencies. With this distance, I get to be an adult and figure out how to be on my own.
When I toured JWU, I fell in love with the campus. Downcity is so beautiful throughout the whole year. PPAC plays all types of music; when you walk by that’s all you hear. Gaebe Commons is a wonderland in the winter, and when spring comes around everyone is hanging out relaxing; It’s very peaceful.
I’m a Criminal Justice major, and my freshman year I got some amazing opportunities within the program. I loved being able to take core classes, while mostly taking classes for my major. They go by very fast, so you may be graduating a year early!
