10 NYC Inspired Fall Outfits

These fall outfits are inspired by the hustle and bustle of New York City! These are some of our favorite looks that you can copy this autumn!

When it comes to New York Fashion it’s always a statement whether you’re really dressy, super casual or a bit of both.  If you want to get an idea of what New Yorkers wear I suggest going to Soho. There, you’re going to find a lot of inspiration for the coming season by just watching strangers walking by. Always remember, wear what you like and dress for the weather! Here are some of the best fall outfits inspired by NYC!

1. Leggings or Bike Shorts

Arguably one of the best trends out there, athleisure is really one of those things that you can either dress up or dress down according to how you want to feel and look. Depending on how it is out your window, you might want to switch out between leggings or a good pair of bike shorts. Having either one as a base will help you build your outfit accordingly. On colder days you can throw on a big sweatshirt or crew neck to keep yourself nice and warm. For the days when it reaches at least 70 degrees try wearing a plain T-shirt or a crop top to accommodate the hotter temperature. You could even throw on a denim jacket or a blazer if you’re feeling it. The best part is whichever way you choose to style leggings or bike shorts, it will always look great with a good pair of sneakers. Really important when you’re living in New York; you’re definitely going to need comfortable shoes! This is one of the best fall outfits!

2. Mini Dress and High Heels

When it comes to looking cute during a night out, don’t worry we haven’t gotten to the point of freezing cold weather.  You can still wear a cute mini dress and some nice heels whether it’s on a date or to the club.  There are various styles you can opt for, you can go with some long sleeves or spaghetti straps and the form-fitting dress will be sure to show off your beautiful figure. Sport a minimalist heel, or decide on a chunkier pick. Either way, you’re going to have all eyes on you!

3. Slacks and Blazers

Based on observations a lot of what we consider more work appropriate is crossing over to everyday wear. You’re going to see a lot of slacks and blazers being mixed with more casual pieces like t-shirts or denim to create an easy and effortless look. Nowadays, you have a lot of fun patterned pieces to startup-ing your wardrobe. Don’t be afraid to mix-and-match and show off your funky tastes!

4. Rain Boots and Umbrellas

Expect a lot of rain during the fall, Hurricane season in New York doesn’t officially end until November. There are definite ways to look cute even when it’s cloudy and pouring.  Biggest tip, footwear is essential when it comes to trekking through the rain;  this is where you should start when you’re building an outfit for this kind of weather. Try looking for some waterproof ankle boots;  they are work appropriate and don’t feel heavy to walk in. If you want to protect more of your legs, try going for rain boots that reach your knees. Some brands even have ones that are lined with faux fur and are perfect for transitioning into winter. Don’t forget an umbrella! Try and find durable ones for the strong winds, but don’t forget they can be a statement piece so choose what you like and they’ll definitely make you stand out in the crowd!

5. Flowy Dresses and Sandals

Just because it’s fall doesn’t mean you can’t keep wearing your favorite summer dresses. Whether the material is linen or satin, patterned or plain, you can still carry them on into the next month.  It hasn’t totally cooled down yet so you’re going to find some days when you can just leave the house in a long, flowy dress and pair it with some nice leather or woven flats.  Probably one of the best options because it’s perfect for when you’re a little lazy and just want to throw something on that is a complete outfit in itself!

We’ve all heard the term statement earrings, but have you considered a statement blouse? Invest in some whether they’re bell sleeved, silky to the touch, or lacy all around. Much like jeans and a t-shirt, if you throw on a statement blouse you’re sure to dress up the look without going over the top. Of course, accessories are a must so definitely be on the hunt for some stunning earrings,  like big metal hoops, or resin pieces!
