I Tried The Keto Diet And It Worked!

The keto diet is going to help you in losing those couple of pounds you want to drop. Here are some tips for living the keto lifestyle!

Every year there’s a new trend when it comes to weight loss and dieting. Many people tend to bandwagon every hyped up trend. Diet trends are fantasized to be an easy quick fix. Remember when people turned into vegans after finding out their favorite celebrity was one or after watching the latest food documentary. A week later they’d go back to eating meat, after failing to properly eliminate meat from their diet. As someone who’s pursuing a healthy lifestyle, there are plenty of overly hyped meal plans and diets to try. A trend that has been gaining hype is the Keto diet. It’s a practical and easy for those who are willing to take a risk. I tried the keto diet and it worked!

What is the Keto Diet?

The Keto diet is a meal that lets participates eat healthy fats and small amounts of carbs. For my fellow pizza and pasta lovers, don’t worry there are plenty of healthy alternatives! The ultimate goal is to put your body into ketosis, which will boost its fat burning capabilities.

Keto Flu

It’s common for people to get sick in the early stages of Keto. The keto flu happens because the body is transitioning from burning sugars into burning fat for energy. The flu symptoms are sugar cravings, fatigue and headaches. Whenever you cut an item out of your diet or daily routine, it’s going to take some time for your body to adjust. It was a struggle for me to overcome the Keto flu because I craving sugars and carbs. After a week, the cravings went away and I began to seeing results.

Meals

The Keto diet has a large variety of meals ranging from Spicy Zucchini chips to Chicken Avocado Casserole. There is a list of certain foods, that should not be eaten on this diet. Stay away from foods full of sugars and starch, that means no french fries and ice cream! Luckily there are alternatives to our favorite comfort foods.

As a pizza lover, I ate cauliflower crusted pizza to curb cravings. Cauliflower is an amazing replacement for any meal that is usually paired with a starchy carb. I would look for recipes on Pinterest to find meals within the keto community. Don’t be strict with your eating, it can lead you to binge eat. Indulge in comfort food but in moderation!

Exercise

If you want to lose weight and tone up on Keto, you must workout! There are 24 hours in the day, the minimum amount of time to work out is an hour. So the excuse of anyone being too busy to work out is trash. Mixing cardio and weight training will help shred fat and build muscle. Ladies, don’t be afraid to lift weights! Lifting helps tighten the skin and give you the desired tone look.

I workout 6 days a week for an hour and a half. My workouts consist of spin, hiking and crossfit. I do a workout DVD and some squats on my lazy days. The hardest part when it comes to working out is getting ready to workout. Once you’re in the gym surrounded by people working toward a goal, it will motivate to run an extra mile or try using a 8 pound dumbell.

Thoughts

I would recommend this diet to anyone looking to change their eating habits. Keto isn’t a meal plan, you should follow for the rest of your life. If you’re looking to tone up or lose a couple pounds, it’s worth it. I was on the diet for 2 weeks and lost 8 pounds! It may not sound like a lot of weight but I fell great! Before the diet, I would wake up feeling bloated and tired. Now I wake up feeling energized for the gym at 5 am and can finally fit into an pair old pair of jeans! Keto can be hard but the results are worth it.
