How To Incorporate Essential Oils Into Your Daily Routine

Picture this: you are browsing your favorite online shop. Maybe it’s Forever 21, Urban Outfitters, or Target and you come across ‘diffusers’ and ‘diffusing oils.’ Once you google what that all means, you are thrown into a rabbit hole of never ending information on essential oils and things get really confusing. Look no further, because here is a guide to how to incorporate essential oils into your daily routine and how to use them!

Essential Oil Uses

Essential oils can be used for a number of things, it just depends on what you are willing to try out! Essential oils are largely used to wear or to smell. They can be added to a diffuser with some water and they will release the scents out to the room for you to enjoy.

They can also be worn as perfumes with a carrier oil. Some believe that wearing essential oils or diffusing them will impact your cells in your body for health benefits. Even if you do not believe in the health benefits, they still smell super yummy!

Natural Essential Oils vs Synthetic Oils

Depending on how legit you want your essential oils to be, this is extremely important when purchasing your oils. They can be purchased for cheap at places like Target or other large retailers, but make sure you check the back.

A good rule of thumb is that the ingredients list is just oils. Typically, the sellers will use distillment techniques to bottle the oils so that it is pure and natural. Others will add fragrance to make up a similar scent that is similar to the natural scent.

All About Carrier Oils

If you are going to be wearing essential oils, it is important to use a carrier oil on top of your oil of choice. There are tons of carrier oil choices like coconut oil, jojoba oil, sweet almond oil, and the list goes on. All you need to do is to use a few drops of your carrier oil and then add whatever other oils you are wearing. Mix it all up in your hands and pat it onto your neck, wrists, or anywhere else!

Carrier oils can also cool down ‘hot’ oils such as peppermint oil. Some people can handle peppermint oils just fine without a carrier oil, but some may experience a burning sensation when using them. Always perform a skin test with any new essential oils you are wanting to use!

Everyday Use

There are so many ways that you can use essential oils! As mentioned already, you can diffuse essential oils. There are traditional diffusers that you have probably already seen that plugin with some water. There are mini options of diffusers that can be plugged into your car USB or into your computer.

Other diffusing options can be added to wood or cotton and worn or left out to diffuse the oils on the material. If you do not want a super strong scent in the area you are in, this is a great option for you!

As mentioned as well, you can wear your essential oils as perfume or other health benefits. Our favorite way for example is patting some peppermint oil on the back of your neck or on your temples to combat a headache or a stomachache. Maybe it’s the placebo effect, or maybe it works!

Pets

If you have a furry friend living with you, proceed with an abundance of caution when using essential oils. The last thing that you want to do is make your pet sick with this new practice. Like always, do your best research and use your best judgment when using these around your pets. There are lots of opinions on what can and cannot make your pet sick, so do as much research as possible!

Brands

If you are looking for a low-dollar option to make your home smell good in a different way, Target is the way to go. They have some cheap options that will give you the scents you are looking for.

From the cheap options, you will move up to the more expensive options. But with paying more, you will get a more pure oil and something with better qualities.

Famously, essential oils are associated with MLMs where there are sellers to sell bundles and other associated products. These are probably the most well known companies to distribute essential oils to consumers.

Alternative Medicine

Rather than using essential oils as an alternative to perfumes or candles, some use essential oils as a form of alternative medicine. Rather than visiting the doctor, some have found that certain oils or oil blends can act as a treatment for a number of things such as a cold, the flu, or stomach viruses.

Other ways that essential oils are used are with capsules or in pill form. Some use the oils and put them in an empty capsule to ingest them to combat illnesses or symptoms. The research and reliability of this practice are slim, and some oils are not ingestible.

Do your own research and make your own judgments before using alternative forms of medicine or visiting a doctor.

Research

Regardless of what you find, try, or use, always do your research. Everyone reacts differently to essential oils. There will also be differing opinions of the validity of essential oils, but have fun with it if you enjoy it!

Google is always your best friend, but especially if you are trying something new. There are tons of bloggers out there that have devoted their time to research and recipes to try for health reasons or fun scents to fill your home.

The uses of essential oils are large and extensive! You can definitely find something that works for you if you are interested in beginning your essential oils journey. Of course, use your best judgment when using oils!
