Believe it or not, I can guarantee a majority of the foods you think are healthy for you aren’t. In this day-in-age the Internet spits out a shit ton of contradicting information. Let me make it simple for you since weight loss is tough enough. Here are the foods to cut out for weight loss. Seriously, these foods contribute to weight gain; they are the best weight loss tips to follow.

Sugar

Alright, so you clearly don’t think this one is healthy but sugar is hidden in a lot of foods you think are. Sugar is the worst ingredient you can put in your body. When purchasing food from the grocery store, rather than looking at the number of calories on a label, check for sugar. You can question me all you want on this but this is your biggest weight loss killer. Don’t believe me? Read Amelia Freer’s novel “Eat.Nourish.Glow: 10 Easy Steps for Losing Weight, Looking Younger and Feeling Healthier.” This book was an absolute game-changer. She suggests making fat your friend and sugar your enemy.

Sugar is the number one leading cause of heart disease in America – also the leading cause of death. Small amounts of natural sugars are okay, i.e., fruits and veggies. Here are the foods to cut out for weight loss that you think are healthy; these foods are packed with sugar. They are sabotaging your weight loss program.

Bread, rice, couscous, potatoes, pasta, oats, breakfast cereals

Low-fat yogurts, desserts

Fruit juices, energy drinks, flavored water, soda and fizzy drinks

Alcohol

Muffins, croissants, baguettes, bagels and other sweet baked goods

Anything with syrup, sucrose or glucose in the ingredients

Natural sugars, e.g., honey, maple syrup, agave, stevia, xylitol

Sauces

Ketchup, brown sauce, mayonnaise and salad dressings, especially low-fat ones and artificial sweeteners (olive oil and balsamic are okay).
