Body scrubs seem to be a growing trend (and for good reason.) If you don’t already know, a body scrub exfoliates the skin on your body (a lot of women like to use them on their legs before shaving, as well as on their feet) and leaves your skin feeling fresh, smooth, moisturized, and soft. They are pretty simple to make and come in many different variations. Here are just a few body scrub recipes for you to try out:
1. Citrus Scrub
To make this body scrub, all you will need are one and a quarter cups of sugar, half a cup of oil (olive oil, coconut oil, baby oil, etc.) and three tablespoons of citrus juice (lemon or lime). Simply transfer the mixture into a container of your choice (a squeeze bottle might be best for easiest application) to store for future use. Before using this scrub, allow your legs (or whatever part of your body you choose to use the scrub on) to soak in the bath or shower for a few minutes. Then, massage the scrub on your skin – the abrasiveness of the sugar will exfoliate all the dirt and dead skin, the citrus juice works as a mild skin peel to reveal bright and smooth skin, and the oil works as a moisturizer. Once the scrub has been rubbed in, shave your legs or simply rinse the rest of the scrub off if you used it on a part of your body that doesn’t need shaving.
2. Vanilla Brown Sugar Scrub
For this body scrub, you will need one cup of brown sugar, half a cup of oil, half a teaspoon of vitamin E oil, and one teaspoon of vanilla extract. Mix all of the ingredients together in a bowl and transfer to a container for future use. As with the previous scrub, prep your skin for the scrub by allowing your legs or feet (or wherever you want to use the scrub) to soak for about five minutes. Then, massage the scrub onto your skin and let it sit for about three to four minutes. Lastly, rinse it off and pat the skin dry with a towel. Your skin will feel super soft and silky smooth. This is one of the best body scrub recipes!
3. Lavender Vanilla Scrub
To make this scrub, you will need two cups of epsom salt, one cup of sugar, two tablespoons of vanilla extract, half a cup of coconut or olive oil, 15 drops of lavender oil, and red and blue food coloring to create a purple mixture. Just as you did for the previous scrubs, allow the skin to soak for a few minutes, massage the scrub onto the skin, then either shave or let it sit for a few minutes, then rinse and pat dry with a towel.
No matter which of these scrubs you try, your skin will feel rejuvenated, moisturized, and soft. So be sure to give one (or all) of these a try – your skin will thank you.
