What I’ve Learned From Trying Over 300 Skin Care Products

mm
If you've been through the ringer with your skin care products, then these are some of the best things I've learned after implementing over 300 products into my skincare routine.

Beautiful skin is something I’m sure everyone would love to have, however, it’s not always the easiest to achieve. If you’ve tried skin care products that haven’t done the job, don’t give up yet! Take it from someone who has experience; this is what I’ve learned after trying over 300 skin care products!

1. Know what’s in the products you are using.

It might sound strange to say this, but skin care products that you think are helping your skin, may actually do more harm than good. For example, irritation to your skin can increase the visibility of acne and spotting on your face, back, chest, or wherever else acne may appear.

But there is a website that breaks down what is in products and how they impact your skin: cosdna.com

It may look weird to be sitting down in the aisles of a store comparing products on the shelves using your IPhone, but your skin will thank you when you stop using those harmful chemicals that we aren’t familiar with. (We are looking at you Propylparaben)

2. Wash with warm and finish with cold.

Everybody remembers the scene in Mean Girls where Regina George obsessively looks in the mirror coping with what she believes is “massive pores”. While your pores may never be noticeable to you, they are a big reason to why we get acne in the first place. The collection of dirt and oil that your skin picks up all throughout the day sits in your pores –causing acne.

Washing your face with warm water before you introduce your facial scrub or cleanser opens up your pores so you can remove the acne causing agents that sit on your skin. Finishing by washing off the soap with cold water ensures that you close the pores before going about the rest of your day.

3. Toner is a girl’s best friend.

After a day of wearing makeup, you would be surprised how much makeup actually remains on your skin after using a makeup wipe, and even washing your face (I know I was).

Toner, with a cotton ball or pad, is an easy way to ensure that after you wash your face you get off all the grime that may be sitting on your skin totally off. It also helps to further close up those pores, and help with over pigmentation.

4. Wash your shampoo and conditioner off before you wash your body.

Much like how dirt and oil sits in your pores all throughout the day, during a hot shower, so does shampoo and conditioner.

5. WATER. WATER. WATER.

Water helps to detox your body and remove toxins that may be harmful to it. These toxins can also be causing acne as well. SO DRINK WATER. It is easier than giving up junk food! Not to mention your skin, and overall health, will improve too!

At the end of it all, however, it comes without saying that skin is different from one person to the next. So what may work for me, may not work for you.
