5 DIY Projects To Get You In The Mood For Fall

Fall is one of the most fun times of the year when it comes to decorating. But with that also comes a lot of tacky decorations that aren’t exactly the morse appealing or grown-up. You can go for the Halloween look, but Halloween is only one day of the whole season!

Sometimes DIY is just better! Not only can you personalize it to your tastes, but you can also say you made something! To get you in the mood for fall and make your space look scary good too, here are 5 DIYs everyone is sure to love!

1. More Boos Please!

This is a fun DIY that you can do with your friends and make a (wine) night of it! All you need for this DIY are fake pumpkins, paint, and any decorations you want to add to your pumpkin!

If you want to make a wine chiller, start by cutting off the top of your pumpkin. The advantage of using a fake pumpkin is that it is already hallowed out and it will last you the whole season and beyond that!

Once you’ve cut off the top, it’s time to paint! Pick any fall color you like and paint away! Depending on the color you pick, you might need to do multiple coats.

After you’ve painted your pumpkin and it has dried you can now decorate it! Use rhinestones, glitter glue, paint pens, more paint… anything you want! Make it personal to you, and you can use it for years to come!

2. Falling Leaves

This is a fun DIY if you want to decorate your room, dorm, or apartment but don’t have a ton of space. All you need for this DIY is a wire coat hanger or a tree branch if you’re an extra Queen!

Next, tape or glue fake leaves onto finishing line, string, or yarn. You can buy big bags of fake leaves at almost any craft store in the fall, so it is super cheap to make and really cute when it’s done!

All that’s left to do is tie your string to the base! A super easy and super cute DIY that will definitely get you into the fall spirit!

3. Welcome, Pumpkin!

This is another fun DIY that is great to do with friends on a chilly night!

For this DIY, all you need is a plain doormat, outdoor acrylic paint, paintbrushes, and stencils, all of which can be found at a craft store. Although stencils aren’t necessary, they will make this DIY a lot easier, and you will be less frustrated as you work!

This DIY is pretty straightforward, but all you have to do is pick a cute saying and stencil it on! Easy! This is an excellent DIY because it doesn’t have to just be a fall DIY, it can be done year-round!

Once it’s dried, place it outside your doorstep and let the compliments roll in!

4. Vampires Suck(ulant)

This DIY is a little more time consuming but totally worth it!

For this DIY you will need mini pumpkins (fake if you can find them), acrylic paint, and flowers or succulents of your choosing! You might find that tracking down fake mini pumpkins is a challenge, and if that’s the case, use real ones!

The downside of using real pumpkins is that the end-product that you love and cherish so much will eventually become a squishy mess. So while it might be ideal to use fake pumpkins, it might not be an easy thing to find. To keep the pumpkins from rotting, you’ll have to preserve your pumpkins.

Preserving your pumpkins is super easy and is something you should do with any hollowed-out pumpkin if you want it to last!

First, hollow-out your pumpkin. This is the hardest part, so once you’ve done this, it’ll be smooth sailing! Once it’s hallow, submerge your pumpkins in a bleach solution with 1 tablespoon of bleach for every gallon of water used. Let it sit for about 20 minutes then let your pumpkin dry overnight.

Once that’s done, you can now paint your cute, preserved pumpkins! Use whatever color you want, it doesn’t have to be fall colors!

Next, fill your pumpkin with flowers or a succulent, and you’re done!

5. Autumn Showers Bring Flowers

Not all of us have time to do these DIYs, but we still want to get into the fall spirit! If that’s the case, this DIY is for you! This DIY is super quick and easy, so anyone can do it!

For this DIY all you need is a vase or mason jar, acorns or pinecones, and fake fall flowers, all of which can be found at a craft store!

All you have to do is fill your vase or jar with acorns or pinecones and put in the faux flowers! No watering necessary because we know you’re a busy girl on the go!

Will you be trying any of these fall DIYs? Let us know!
